World famous books and tropical fruits

Recommended Posts

Seemingly only world famous books have survived the apocalypse in Chernarus. Have you ever seen a book that is not known by everyone (Shakespeare and all that)?

And there are only tropical/southern fruits left: kiwis, bananas, oranges. Most likely even in pre-apocalyptic times they didn't exist there. :D

This is no complaint. Just saying :)

There is apples. Also someone mentioned finding some "How to learn Russian" books. So it is not all tropical fruit and world classics.

But regarding the books, it is obviously easier for them to copy already digitised non-copyrighted books like the books from the Gutenberg Project, which are mainly classics, than to pay expensive copyright fees to include little known more recent books. Especially since books play a very little part of the game.

Hello there

The team are using books that are out of copyright and on the whole the most well known ones are the best. If you have any suggestions on out of copyright books let us know. Remember the devs are aware of all the regular libraries for these.

I suppose it's just quicker and easier to name ingame books after titles you know than to think of new ones. Especially in Alpha state where some things are still a placeholder. Again, no complaint, I just noticed :-)

Maybe we will be able to write our own books in the future and add them in the game :)

I mean it is do-able right?

If you think that you would enjoy reading 500 pages of racist/homophobic slurs and ASCII penises then yes, this is probably do-able.

I would rather find a Pristine copy of The Heart of Darkness than Pettr's Big Book of Bird Watching.

You never buy fruit that doesn't grow in your country? Most fruits such as bananas and oranges doesn't really grow well inside a regular house and since you find most fruits inside of houses... one would think that they're there because the previous owners perhaps bought a couple of bananas once? The only fruit tree I've seen in game are apple trees or what looks to be apple trees anyway. Haven't seen any orange groves and not a single kiwi tree nor any palms with bananas.

I'm all about free speech, and i'm also free to burn theese kind of books at Cherno central square, along with the man who wrote it :)

Edit: But now, seriously. In my opinion it would be a good adittion.Look at it this way, when the game launches we will still see people hacking, that dosen't mean we should stop playing the game ;)

is hustler or playboy copyrighted ?

Most books written after 1923 are copyrighted. I'm not 100% sure if the same applies to magazines but I'd say you're out of luck.

The books are a clever addition and should not be removed from the game.
