hello,

 

as I walked through Berenzino I saw these small areas of trees which reminded me a of DayZ Celle. Thick forests like that seems to be a pretty nice area for (group) firefights because it's not that easy to find out where your enemy is and the trees seems to be a good cover. its like hide and seek.

 

As my mates and me played Celle back in 2012 we had a lot of fun in these woods (the complete map is filled with them). The server we played on had really cool custom created military bases in those forests which were always occupied by the servers clan or other players and we often tried to steal their cars, helicopters and loot. One day we discovered a new base and as we entered it our enemies heard and started shooting and hunting us. Full of adrenaline we jumped over the sand barricades and ran to the Autobahn out of the forest. The only thing what protected us was the thick wood. these forests made it hard to find out bases and we had a couple of awesome fights in them.

 

I really like Cherno but this map has basically really assessable forests which are also fun but it can't top my experiences in Celle with thick forests. So my idea is to create more of them - what do you think?

Celle is so amazing. I really love that map. It would be totally perfect if they made it bigger. Like as big as Altis xD

But I do totally agree: Chernarus is missing dense tree areas.

Hi.

 

I liked that map and forests as well, but I think too many people are struggling performance-wise with SA the way it is(and thats with a serious lack of features implemented).

 

Hopefully after the game goes gold it will become moddable, and people can port maps in(with the map creators permission of course). As much as I like Chernarus, the added variety of some well made mod maps can only improve things.

yep. performance > everything else we want in/for dayz.

 

but didn't rocket said in an interview that they'll remove the moving grass and trees caused by the wind? actually these animations are still in the SA. maybe this could fix something but idk I'm not into game programming. Anway I only have a midclass PC and all in all I never had problems in Celle with FPS. In the SA i really get problems in cities (like everyone) but in the forests everything is fine with very good fps. So i think the cities are a bigger problem than the forests.

Wow, I never heard about DayZ Celle but dayum I love those thick forests.

 

Bring them to DayZ standalone please.

The nice thing about it , that it is actually a area in Germany. Pretty much similar to a real map out of that area.

Most reports are that the framerate only drops out in cities and it double's once out of the city, I'd reason that there is enough power there to render in some dense bush and still get better FPS then in a city.

 

Still there are some area's that shouldn't change, but this could be a way of encouraging players to move differently once the sound bugs are fixed.

I agree what OP say :beans:

 

more dense forest is great idea

 

better for hide the camp/stash when this features coming and vehicle also ;)

 

and make pvP more intense experience even making carebears feel more safe when they hide in forest scan around in 3rd person no move :o

While I'm not sure what the performance would say, I do think that the current forests are sometimes a bit "wider". Maybe aim for a compromise and add some more trees, but not that many per area.

Or actually make the game or engine render foliage and stuff at larger distances so forests seem somewhat more dense.

Either way demands more resources.

in celle you have very dense areas (as you can see in the pictures) and areas were just the outstandig trees have a dense "inner life". a mix of both could be a compromise. the trees in dayz sa actually changed their models or am I wrong? they look different or more dense than the ones you have in the mod.
