Brethren Develain 4 Posted January 17, 2014 So after a few days my friends and myself have added some allies and we tend to wolfpack together. I found that it seems much easier in groups of 2-4 to keep everything coordinated and on the same page. But recently we have been doubling that as we find new survivors who want to come along. This makes in game voicechat and teamspeak hectic at times as so many people are trying to talk at once. Can any of you vets share some knowledge about operating larger survivor bands and well keeping it orderly? We dont have a problem keeping everyone fed, geared and manage to get plenty of water. So gear wise distribution is not an issue. So any tips in general about managing a growing hero/survivor group in DayZ would be great! :)

Rkelt 46 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Hi there...How about...split in smaller team(2-3) and select a team leader...Ingame Coms for the members of the team...and TS only for the Team LeadersIf your group is way bigger...then you should select some members to be some kind of Command Center...to coordinate the smaller teams...Have fun out there Edit: Make sure they like to follow orders ;) Edited January 17, 2014 by XjoseX
ninjacalypse 551 Posted January 17, 2014 So any tips in general about managing a growing hero/survivor group in DayZ would be great! :) Let the new guys run in front of you? :P But seriously, larger group equals more visibility. Maybe split up and have one or two players scout ahead. If the whole group is running down the road, someone is probably going to shoot at you guys.
NagsterTheGangster 388 Posted January 17, 2014 I like the thought of buddy's idea 2 above, have the Teammembers have chat to others in their group via Teamspeak and the Teamleaders could pass along the important info to one another via game VOIP. Only the Teamleaders use game VOIP to keep the chatter down too.
herrjon 478 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Well, if your using teamspeak specifically, I know of a fix, but I assume there are similar functions on other programs. Whatever you do, you do need to break up into small groups in separate channels. In teamspeak you can set up whisper lists, either to specific people or specific channels. You'd have your squad leads set up a whisper with each other, and you could also have each member set up a whisper to the other channel if they need to speak, like identifying if a player is someone from the other squad. This will still allow all necessary comms across the group but keep all the banter and chatter to a minimum. In terms of moving about and utilizing all bodies, I'm not the best person to ask and I probably run a different type of outfit, but it usually breaks down to a scout group, an overwatch, and a main assault team or teams. You'll want to avoid thinning things down so one person is alone, there's power in numbers and you can move about and react so much better when you've got 2 sets of eyes, 2 bodies moving, and 2 guns to use at different sections. Overwatch can be one person if needed, but it's better to have a spotter for a second set of eyes and any close range engagements overwatch may need to have.
