Why does this game run so bad on the Haswell GPU?

Recommended Posts

My PC is unchanged but my 780 is off being repaired and so I'm having to use the 4770k GPU and the game runs at like 5fps with everything set to low and the resolution at like 500p. BF4 I get 30-40FPS, CS:GO I get 80, EVE Online I get 50 etc. It isn't a bad little GPU for playing games on low to medium settings, however the one game that it cannot run is Dayz. I would so love for this to be fixed because it has to be something wrong with the engine causing such poor FPS. Changing the graphical settings doesn't seem to change much, only AO, Res and AA have any impact...

Needs to be looked at since there are a lot of Laptops out there of people who are using these sorts of intel graphics.

DayZ is very unoptimized and is very CPU intensive. So, for the CPU having to do both tasks is very hard for it. Another thing is, the internal GPU on those chips....suck to be honest. I also have a 4770K.

arma 2 was horribly optimised, and the fact that dayZ is built off the same engine and is still in alpha only makes the performance worse.

It can't be looked at, the engine would have to be completely redesigned. Arma 2 was not designed to run on integrated graphics although the graphics may suggest so - nor was dayz because of this.

By 4770k GPU are you referring to the chipset's intergrated graphics?

'cos if so, anyone would always be recommended to have an independant GPU. Intergrated graphics are terrible.

Edited, because I am an idiot and the OP's post was unclear.

Yes and mine is being repaired atm, however the 4770K iGPU isn't a bad performer, it's only really bad in this game.

OP's results are perfectly fine, nothing to be done here because of integrated graphics.

What's more troubling is, that once his 780 is back, his FPS also wount be perfect.

I so love and hate arma engine. Love for the stories it allows to happen, hate for the low FPS it is giving me.

4770K is a CPU, and it's GPU sucks just like all integrated GPUs.

I don't even know how you can get 30 fps on BF4.

Played F1 2013 at 50fps with everything set to low, still looked good though, got playing Red Orchestra 2 and NS, again on low but looked alright and those were playable too...

It's just Dayz that has the problem, not the Haswell GPU.
