Hiddentw 0 Posted January 16, 2014 Hello ! First of all please excuse my english, this isn't my native language. So I was thinking about some well-known zombie serie, and I remember that in the very early episodes, the survivor crosses the path of a legless female zombie who seems to be in an advanced level of decaying. So what about setting differents types of zombies, like "elderly" ones would be in an advanced state of decay, slower, less sight & reactivirt, etc... and other "fresh", recently turned zombies that would have better capacities?I was also thinking about modifying the deaths players, what if instead of just laying on the floor, they became the new zombies? Like, when a survivor dies, after a short period of time (and that could depend of his death, i.e bites would make a dead survivor turn in 5mn and bullets would take 30mn) he turns, and in order to loot, you must kill the new(re)born zombie? That would offer new types of zombies, and would fit the RP ^^ Thanks for reading me !
byrgesen 1341 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) I like the idea of different kinds of Zed's, like an elderly and younger versions, but the Z's in DayZ arent dead zombies, think more like infected people (28 days later and so), so they do not really decay like you describe :)Also, it has been stated since the beginning of the mod, the reason we players arent turning, is because we are immune to the virus. We simply cannot turn, only get sick and die :) Edited January 16, 2014 by Byrgesen
ragingIMP 1 Posted January 16, 2014 Actually there is a plan to implement more types of infect (n.b. not zombies). The infected have a life cycle where they start in their current form and then as the infection progresses they start to lose body function. Stage 2 leaves them walking on 4 legs and the final stages is them unable to walk and dragging themselves along the ground.

Do you have an official source for this statement?Would very much like to read more about it.
ragingIMP 1 Posted January 16, 2014 Do you have an official source for this statement?Would very much like to read more about it. Thats a good question its in one of the interviews with dean but I've looked at so many I can't remember which one its discussed in. The best places to check are the interviews on YouTube plus there are some really old pre-release stuff which is where it might be, also see if you can find some of the old reddit Q&As. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted January 16, 2014 Player Zombies will NEVER happen, not in any form. As already said above the zombies are infected living people, not the undead. In this game dead is dead, which is why a couple shots to the chest'll kill a zombie. Child Zombies are also confirmed as a no (don't think I read it in the OP but one of the other posts here, just thought I'd mention it). Zombie Lifecycles have been on the table for a while, I've not read much about what exactly that is but I refuse to get a twitter account or browse redit unless it's posted here as well. Zombie 'types' have been mentioned as well, but it would't be different types so much as Military zombies would be slightly harder to kill because they're wearing flack jackets. Hiddentw 0 Posted January 16, 2014 Do you have an official source for this statement?Would very much like to read more about it.I guess they will be moving around the same way they were in the mod, crawlers, jumpers("bunnys"?) and runners. Thanks for the answers anyways, I guess I should have improved my background knowledge ^^
