soulfirez 901 Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) There's just nothing to gain from trying to talk to strangers for me. I already have people to group up with. A lot to lose if the talking fails, and nothing to gain from it. If I kill him, I gain a lot, and don't risk anything. It's not a deathmatch mentality, it's the most sound way of making sure you survive, which is what this game is about.Just a question if you and your group ( most likely fully geared up ) while entering a town see a guy armed with say the double barrel shot gun leaving the town in the oppersite dirrection do you pop a cap in his back ?? if you do do you even search his body ?? survival can be a good reason to pvp no doubt at what point though does it change to just shooting because he is not part of your group?? what can you gain from talking to a stanger an interesting interaction yeah it may end up in a tense stand off it may even end up in you dying lol but it will end one way or the other as hopefully something you will remember cause when you ( and i am not saying you do you tell me) pop a cap in his back when he is not armed in way to actually be a risk to your group its not really survival but straight pvp kos... Will you remember this lone survivour when you have just KOS him ?? i dont think so he will be just another kill when you have spoken to him you may remember that crazy survivour that went bible basher on us lol or wow that was some tense stand off lucky ya capped him (insert friends name) Edited January 16, 2014 by SoulFirez
Agent00Soul 4 Posted January 17, 2014 I played on a UK server in the mod where there were not many players on after a given time zone change. The server featured several neat mods such as self blood bagging, more vehicle spawns, and AI hero and bandit squads roaming the various cities. They would engage each other and even zombies. If you fired at hero groups acting as a bandit then they would fight back and if bandit groups saw you they would attack on sight generally. This sort of PVE or at least AI playing was very fun for us as we set up camps and noticed that our camps and vehicles at times were stolen in front of us basically by the AI. So you could still be robbed and killed but the AI in some cases were predictable especially in how they did flybys in helicopters and shot at you. Still we had fun and still played with players on occasion but the survivalist single player was still fun. the option to have this is attractive but if it does not happen or ends up being only a mod in private hives again thats fine. Sounds utterly lame. I hope none of that is ever added to be honest. They should concentrate on adding features to let players drive the interaction.
Dellema 12 Posted January 17, 2014 Hardly seems like an honest question, but rather an aggressive one. Regardless, for me, the idea of KOS isn't a problem, the frequency of it is. In a zombie apocalypse scenario, I have a very difficult time thinking that people will just be running around killing people at their every whim and fancy. Sure, if two people are looking at the same bit of food and starving, I can see a murder. But I just think that if your whole goal in this game is to gear up and then go kill other people, you've completely missed the point. People get really mad when I say that. Fine, you can play the game how you chose, but if you just want to PVE deathmatch, why do it in Day Z? That's baffles me more than someone who would want to play by themselves. If that is the mindset, then I'd prefer those people be honest and flip over to a PVE server. Griefers ruin immersion.
