Game Design Aspects

I wanted to start a thread where actual developers and designers can come together and talk about the future of the DayZ standalone. Some of the topics talked about here could have already been brought up, but should still be improved.

Developpers or DayZ developpers. If you expect them to come chit chat on the forum, you are mistaken.

I saw zombie types but I had a very different vision for different zombie types. We don't need actually zombies that are unrealistic. We need infected humans which we have already. To expand on this topic: I'm sure that more zombies are being implemented and zombies having gear should be a must. This would help with KOS becuase then people would have to work togther to clean a town that is over run with zombies. Also making the zombies worth killing would draw some attantion away from the players. Right now going to a military base or killing a player with gear is the best way to gear up. If the major towns and military bases were more over run with zombies it would help platers work togther to clear a base or town.If zombies had items it would give them more character and back story.

General zombies: might have food or water/soda. These are the zombies that wander the small towns.

recently infected zombies: this is when things get more creative because some zombies should be better then others. These zombies could be faster. They could have a jacket on the player wants or a backpack. Something that makes these zombies more valuable. They are better then the standard zombie and worth killing for gear. This keeps the simulation realistic and give each zombie more character. Some zombies should be better and this gives the effect that the zombie is fresh. Compared to zombies that have been decaying for a while.

Military zombies.: I find it very hard to believe that there are no zombies carrying some kind of weapon or have a military vest on worth taking. These zombies would not be able to use the weapons but would benefit from a vest that helps protect its body from harm. These zombies get harder to kill just by having a vest and still keeping to the realistic features this game wants to keep. Head shots on zombies would become more relevant.

Hopefully more people have great innovative ideas that can conform to this games play style. Also hope to hear from more people with different perspectives on these topics and more to come.

I'm guessing you're new to Dayz in general?

 

Most everything you've mentioned has been in the mod from the get go. In some of the mods of the mod, there are certain rare items that are ONLY found on specific zombie types.

 

Also to add, it did nothing to prevent kos. 

 

Now, if they can get a crazy, insane amount of z's on a server (doubtful) that would help curb it slightly but not very much at all.

 

It's the nature of a game with no rules.

That the point though. We don't want them to take away the player kills. We stilll need bandits and people sucking in general. That is what makes this game so fun. I just want the experience to be everything that every one is hoping for. More stoy which helps becuase everyone is going to come up with somethung different as to why that zombie has a backpack ir other items. I never once said to get rid of the KOS. So stop jumping conclusions. :-P.

Really once we have more zombies there would be more of a common goal. Also can't wait for them to implement the vehicles because that also supports a common goal.

The idea of those in the industry, getting together to talk DayZ - for the love of DayZ, isn't a bad one. I'm all for it.

 

It's just we have to earn some credibility with the community by getting to 1500 posts like Bean Queen has. Then people will perk up and take note without looking sideways and wondering what's the angle.

 

Here's to hoping this thread attracts others in the industry to chime in. ;)

Lol we all know what the mod has. We just want it in the standalone. :-)

 

Then you should probably do a little research from the past year to see what Rocket has said he plans to do. It might have saved you some time with this thread. ;)

I've met my fair share of "idea guys" proclaiming to be developers or designers whose portfolio remain desperately void of anything noteworthy.

I have I just like having a place to talk about kewl topics for future DayZ plans. As I stated about. This is place to expand and talk about the best possible ideals we all have for DayZ.

As this is my first thread here I would also like people to post links to other threads that talk about similar topics. Breaking down and expanding on others comments helps to progress the discussion and hopefully the game as well.

Deadwolf, try to use ONE post for all of your replies. One post per line, isn't really on.

 

Btw Lady K, can come across a bit "grumpy" as can some of our regulars, its down to having to wade through the same old stuff time and again. They become frustrated at folk who dont do a little searching before they post. I can understand that.

 

As to the devs involving themselves in this particular post, well, that's unlikely to happen unless you bring something astounding into the mix.

 

The devs DO read here and DO involve themselves from time to time. But they're not going to open a line of communication because of one post from a new member. Its been suggested many many many times before.

 

Regardless, welcome and make sure to read all the rules and  you'll get a less "spikey" greeting from our older members.

 

And if you think they are difficult wait till you meet the trolls.

I wish more people knew how to talk about topics instead of trying to bash on others. Only proves how irrelevant you really are.

I am actually hoping that people have more things to talk about towards the game. I can't be the only one excited for all this to happen. This game is going to be the best survival game human and zombie a like. Some times it takes a good group of people/ community to come together. Unlike you negative attitude towards people. This is about the game and how to better our experience as the player. Not about trying to make an ass of ones self like you are doing so easily.

That is 100 percent true. Also if they get there undies in a bundle because some one just wants to talk about the game and talk about improvments. They are just waiting energy like idiots instead of contributing.

I'm getting that none of you really understand the point to all this. I wanted a forum for any developer or designer or any one with relevant knowledge of games and designing to be able to speak not specifically the the developers of DayZ. But ever one. I know they are very busy and have a lot of work to get done. I can only imagine how the bugs make them feel. Programing is intense amd every time you fix one bug another or more appear. This is a place to just talk about kewl aspects for the future. I hope you are not missing the point as you sound like some that can attribute to all of this.

You're still making 3 posts when you could make one. Are you using a phone or something? That might explain it. :)

 

I see your point on the creation of this thread, but Game devs will tend to find a Game Dev forum to discuss their shenanigans.

 

You could easily class Lady Krah as a game dev (in fact a very talented 3d Graphic designer and lord knows what else they can do) and without blowing my own trumpet I too fiddle with aspects on computer design/art.

 

I dont talk about them much here though as not many would understand or be all that interested, nor would I be able to find much decent info.

 

We do have art threads, but on the whole they are fairly quiet, as are the dedicated technology and programming threads on this very forum!

 

I salute your ideal, but unfortunately have to rain a little on your parade.
