Strength in numbers?

Recommended Posts

I was just curious to know how many people you guys play with. I have 6 friends with the game and have only played with all 6 at once well once.... It didn't go so well

I normally played with 2-4 of my mates and we sometimes find that as soon as we see people they just get scared and run off and cause we're bored we just end up shooting them (what's a fresh spawn doing in zelenogorsk and stary anyways)

I find that when its just me that players are more friendly, although they run away at first once I talk to them and establish I mean no harm and offer my services they come along with me.

How many people do you guys normally play with?

until the game develops more it seems that lone wolfing is currently a better option. as I find its easier to go un-noticed and you pay more attention to your surroundings. teaming up with players often gives you a false sense of security and makes you more complacent, and easier to ambush. and yes you'll scare people away :p

Well it depends to be honest. When I played the Arma II mod then I had a group of 6 players on at one time but over time some players quit and some players joined.

In SA I play with 2 other guys but normally I play on my own.

I don't think it's gonna matter how developed the game is, groups will always suffer from being easy to spot (not ambush) and they'll always scare people away. So more loot for me :)

I run MOST 3 people, a navigator, a field medic and a general supplies carrier.

This allows specializations of characters and makes us a lot stronger

e.g we get into a firefight and our General supplies gets hit, rather then have him stop firing his m4, the medic can preform assistance whilst he continues to fire, our navigator can slip away with his mosin and get a few rounds down before we flank and take down the enemy.

Works 60% of the time, everytime

Same here. Not by choice, but RL and work commitments mean that grouping up with friends or PUGs are hard to schedule. The advantage is that the servers are pretty under populated at the times I play, as well, so lots of loot for me!

I usually squad up with 3 to 4 other of my clanmates on our server.. and there are sometimes 2 seperate 3 to 4 person squads running between us with our MIA guys/gal.  Sometimes we'll all meet up and run as 8+ people, but it gets too messy sometimes.  lol.. usually end up splitting back up into smaller squads. Much easier to manage.  :)

I was once with 30 people (no shit). But that was a one-time occurrence. Still, the group I'm in is large, and it depends on the mission and how many are around. Sometimes a really small squad, sometimes a larger group.

On average? In between 5 to 15. But depends on what you understand as "play with". If you mean in your direct area, then about 4 to 10-ish. Overall (on server), the number could potentially double, not including allied groups.

The bigger the group gets, the harder managing gets in practice. There are also pros and cons for being alone, in a small group and in a large® group. Everything has a price, so to speak.

I prefer a group of three. I can easily manage a group this small, you are quite flexible and still relatively fast.

I am not sure how larger groups would work for me, we are all just a lose bunch of guys who know each other (real life or other online games) but not a "clan" and as such we have some friends who simply suck at the game but you can't really deny them to play with you. I had a guy in my team yesterday, a friend of someone else in the group, who managed to run out of Polana, just to end up there again ten minutes later... thrice... his objective was to go from Solnichniy to Altar west of Gorka.

However it might change when the game matures as more people might become useful for managing other aspects of the game (hunting, looting, bsae-building etc).

I usually run with 2-4 friends, we don't really specialise in any way though because we also like to play alone sometimes.

Alone mostly because of clashing work schedules/life but I enjoy at least having 1 person with me for things like guarding outside a building while the other loots.

A 2-man group has worked well for me. Having an extra set of eyes can save your life. In my own experience my partner and I have saved each other's lives many times.

There's always safety in numbers in anything unless it's a viral outbreak then you die.
