Just want some feedback on what people think of the new instant log feature that old Dayz mod didn't have "Besides alt F4"

If you chose

"I think something other then these 3 would be better"

Feel free to post your idea on this post!

Would you want the old system to be implemented or something new? Or maybe you like the new Instant log feature let us know!

Combat logging would be my biggest concern.

It would be nice if you were forced to sit down someplace (or some other mechanic) to be able to log out.  It would also be nice if you couldn't logout during "combat" but from what I can see there aren't really state changes for being in combat?

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I didn't see one.

Also not sure if the developers read this forum.

I understand it's still in alpha and a lot of work still needs to be done, but can we add one more thing?

A logout timer. So when someone logs out they either wait 10 seconds or their character stays there for 10 seconds. Also applies to disconnects.

I've already experienced a flaw with this not in place. I was attacked from behind then when I turned around to shoot, the person logged out and immediately disappeared. Had this been in place, I don't think stupidity like this would happen because he would be dead by the time he logged back in.

Understand I don't blame the person for trying to get the surprise on me or even if I was killed by the action I wouldn't have been upset. (Not like everyone isn't already accustomed to dying anyway) But by doing this and taking the coward's way out in a game that is built so strongly towards realism is just annoying and unrealistic.

I of course am not going to demand this be put in place, but I definitely would like it put under consideration or at least another solution introduced.

Thank you for reading and want to say love the game so far. Can't wait until it's finished.

There's no need for timers. Just make the character stay on the server for a few minutes after you disconnect!

In my opinion it should let you log out, BUT your character would be stuck on the server and it should not let you join another server for 20 seconds. Or then the log out should kill you instantly and leave your body there (with a disclaimer). I don't like being stuck in the server. Already had that problem in the DayZ mod...

In the mod I couldn't log out close to squadmates. That was totally not needed. But yes, body despawn delay. Though allow us to disconnect anyway, so I don't have to stare at the menu until it's done.

I'm not sure how this can really be fixed because there are definite reasons to be able to disconnect and log out immediately.

Perhaps, logging out from within a large city, base our other large town will result in death (loss of goods). Implement a timed log out when other players are near (sit down, lay down to take a nap then close eyes). If outside a named location and away from other players, instant log out without death. The instant log out should always be an option but if in a named location or close to other players it will result in death causing a coastal respawn..

Just some ideas off the top of my head.

... There is a poll for this in the top 5 current threads.

EDIT: NVM, you're one min late. That explains it. My bad ha.

YES, if you log out in game your character should stay in game for 20 to 60 sec before disappearing from the server.

That way if your not in a safe place you may get killed, and if you combat log then you WILL die from the person after you because your character will just sit there for a minute completely vulnerable to attacks. I feel this will help stop CL by quite a bit.

I think the timer should be around 60 seconds and your character does a going to sleep animation accompanied with a yawning sound or something of the like.

The reasoning behind this is so people can't log off while being robbed, during firefights, or while you are searching for them because the sound and the animation would be a dead giveaway of them logging off.

The timer can be interrupted and reset by being attacked or shot at. Instant log off should still be in the game if the player doesn't want to wait however they should leave a dummy behind for a minute or two that can be killed.

There should also be a friend feature if you are near a friend then you can log out near them and maybe they will have a little + sign above them symbolizing you are with him

Not to mention it will also help kos, bandits need to have enough time to conduct business before a logout... If you neglect your character a safe area to log out its' your own damn fault. they will know if a character goes limp, or isn't moving then its a log, just enough time to grab that sweet gear.

However, this still won't fix people searching through houses and come across your logged out body... My suggestion would be to log out prone in a field

I think it's gotta be at least 30-60 seconds. I would even like to see a long delay while entering a server where you can see but can't yet move. That would reduce server jumping for gear.
