I never played the original, why is there 3rd person?

Recommended Posts

3rd person is a feature of the original and should stay. Many players like to see their character in action. I even think that forced first person only servers are unnecessary and splitting the population. Keep it like in the original Dayz mod.

I unfortunately cannot play DayZ in first person for more than 15 minutes without felling sick. It is truly a major bummer.

The thing is I am not alone 7 out of my 10 friends who played the mod had the same issue. We wanted to play 1st person servers but simply could not.

We are all waiting to see what happens with the 1st or 3rd person decisions as we will not be able to buy the game if it goes 1st person.

I would be seriously sad after waiting this long only to find we cannot play it.

Wow...so you and 7 of your friends all happen to suffer from (judging from your account) what sounds like Vertigo that I'm guessing is either onset by rare brain disorders, Ménière's disease or more commonly you all just happen to be chronic migraine sufferers and there is no way you or the majority of your friends can play FPS games unless they have a third person (aka peek-aboo) view option?

I'm just worried that there might be some sort of "something in the water" type situation going on in Australia unless you and your friends are all in some sort of Vertigo Sufferers clan.

I don't PvP. I use 3PP when I feel like it. Sue me!

I fail to see how that gives me an advantage over you. We're never going to be in any sort of situation where it is relevant.

It's obviously not people like you that's the problem here mate. So calm down a bit. People that use 3rd person view purely for the aesthetics is ok imho. People that use it to look over walls and stuff like that is using a glitch. As long as they can remove it, I see no problem keeping 3rd person. I think in spectator mode in CS there was something called locked 3rd person view. Maybe that could be the answer?

People will use it to gain advantage subconsciously. They want to see stuff they can't see, they push a button and they can see. Who'd not use it? I do if available. And I'm all for removing 3PP.

It´s no "glitch".

Choose your server (on or off) ... done...

OR...

use this thread... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/162565-fix-not-remove-third-person-perspective/

about how you could fix it.

Removing threads are pointless.

so this game should not evolve and stay as it was with the same engine, functionality limitations as the original just with better graphics? must be a dlc then

Playing at first-person is now pain, because mouse acceleration cannot turned off.
At interiors you get missing, when mouse acceleration turn you around.

So i don't understand why so many wants now play with at first-person... and i think all who cry from third-person are players whose main objective at DayZ is shooting other players.

This topic has been discussed before and suggestion has been made too... there are just people who just dont want to compromise and who still want to abuse the 3rd person camera, but they do not say that openly, they just defend their argument about " its my freedom to choose so or not" or " MOTION SICKNEEEEEESSSS!!!!" or " hey I come from game platforms where 3pp was only, I never played counterstrike or any kinda FPS games where you just have 1pp on"...

they just dont want to accept any compromise while they expect compromise from us and still use the childs excuse of " its your problem, naaa naaa na na naaaaaa..."  sorry but this is just translated like this " I want to abuse every kind of possibility to get some advantage against players who wants to play this game as fair and square, if I can stay at the corner of a building and can see you without exposing myself and then just bringing out my gun and shoot you dead. Than that shows how extraordinary I am and that you are not, it is not related to the fact that I actually shouldnt see you like this but hey the game has implemented this feature and I just use it as tactical advantage (yea tactical advantage my arse -.- ) "

well like I said this matter has been discussed on another topic and you can check it there too... and see how some people discuss something the shit hole down.... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/162565-fix-not-remove-third-person-perspective/ check the first page the first post and his suggestions. And if you would like to know what I said to the matter than just go to page 10 and see my answer to the matter

Glitch is maybe the wrong word.

I'll call it an exploit. And you shouldn't have to choose between on or off on such an important matter. Just limit the 3rd person view, and the problem goes away.

But honestly, it's only an alpha, so I'm not too concerned. My main problem is that so many people use whatever bug, glitch and exploit they can find. And that's just sad.

Is that worse than removing features? Might as well get rid of guns too so that we can evolve this game into something better..

Edit: Also, really? "People who play third person won't accept a compromise" - Coming from the people who are complaining that not every server is first person only? The irony is baffling..

I have read some of those. I dont think that "join a 1st person view server" is the solution. What if my friends don't want that, what if some want and some don't? This is a segregation of the playerbase, it should be unified, not split.

The thing is, everyone who likes 3rd person arguments their reasons to "I like it", while ignoring the facts that it's completely unfair to just look at people without fear of being spotted yourself.

it is fair if you are on a 3rd person server you have the chouse to do it too

Why everyone (FVP players) assumes that the TPV is only for corners and shit. Sometimes it takes hours to see someone and when i do i go into FPV, should i stay all this time in the laggish FPV just because?!? Get over yourself stop being pricks let every1 enjoy the game as he wants, you got FPV servers only, TPV fix for seing outside wall will come eventually so shut it and go play this wonderfull game.

I have came up with 1 sulution

i was on the side of 3rd person on but now in the SA i dont have the problems that i did in the mod

now I only use 3rd person when running long distances I switch to 1st when in a town or village, and i often play 1st person only servers now

so my idea is that 3rd person should only be able to be used while running for say 20/30 seconds

I dont know if this would be good for everyone but i would work for me stopping the discomfort of running long distances in 1st person

while keeping a level plaing feild in towns and citys

It would work for me but is unessasery due to the fact you you can just go on a 1st person only sever

How about you don't force your play style on me - You wouldn't like it if people forced you to play friendly now would you?

What if I said the only way you should be able to enter first person is if you're using your weapon? You'd be pretty irritated, but that's exactly what you just said about third with running. You're trying to restrict the way -I- play, to suit -your- play style, which is a two way street.

(This isn't meant to be an insult in anyway, I'm just sick of the two faced arguments of "You should be forced to play like ___, but you can't tell me how to play!")

Don't worry. He won't force anything upon you...because he can't. Rocket on the other hand might actually do that. He recently stated his wish to remove 3PP altogether.

How about you try that "Don't force your play style on me..." approach with him?

I like both styles.  Honestly, third person lets you see how cool your survivor is.  My issue with first person is that the game is about as stiff and unresponsive as an FPS out there.  First person really highlights that.

And what if he did the opposite out of spite and removed first person all together, how many of you would be sitting here complaining?

Edit: And seeing as the majority of the initial DayZ videos were recorded in third person, I'd worry about the amount of people trying to call in false advertisement suits - Especially with the current one over Battlefield.

Taken from the front page - This shot, among many others implies that third person is in the game.

Edit:Edit:Edit: Infact, near everything located on the dev tumblr implies that third person is ingame.

There's nothing wrong with 3rd person. I like looking at my character and being able to see the environment. Keep complaining if you want bud, but we don't all get what we want.

But it should not be like that. I get that people use 3rd person view for battling motion sickness, and to get different loot and stuff. But if your using 3rd person view to look over walls and stuff, you have completely misunderstood the game.

I rarely use 3rd person, and I would never use it to gain advantage over an enemy. To me its as disgraceful as combat logging and server hopping. But as a lot of people are doing that as well, it's no surprise a lot of you still use 3rd person for the glitching. And then you go and flame to people that find it annoying.

Turn off the 3rd person look over the wall glitch, and I'll bet 80% will stop using it.

I totally agree with you!

But as much as I would love if Dayz were 1p only, it's impossible accomplish that without upsetting the majority of the community (which from Rockets point of view isn't very desired if you either want to sell or have a good relationship with your community)!

What I wanna say is that, as long a I get to play it my way, I don't really care if other people like to play it in another way (which is what the original Arma community is ALL about! Have you seen the amount of available mods for A2?)..

Cheers!

Hey another one of these topics.

Il comment in this one, i honestly like having 3rd person as it gives me something to look at whilst im running from town to town etc... i go first person for all "combat" but to have this game as first person only now would be silly, it doesn't look anywhere near as graphically pleasing and the sound in game atm is absolutely dire. Not to mention the fact (yes i know its an alpha) but first person currently feels clunky and unresponsive particularly in buildings where i have found i have often gotten stuck in doorways for no particular reason.

Improving the sound (which im pretty sure i read will be happening) and making first person feel less clunky may influence me to play on first person only servers.

I think the dev team should put a lot of effort to improve 1st person. Right now i dont mind 3rd person, but i d like to play 1st person only at release. But certain thing have to improve. Like lying in the gras, u see basically nothing. In reality you could lift your head to get an overwiev, in dayz only possible with 3rd person. Maybe something like this would be nice. Other things are mentioned before ( for example that u get stuck in buildings very easily etc).

I'd be curious how many of the 3PP lovers would complain. I wouldn't. I just would delete it from my harddrive. I'm not interested in third person games.

It's Alpha. They can do anything. And they didn't advertise. There's a message at the Steam-Page of it: "Don't buy this game!"

But don't worry! I don't believe 3PP will be removed completely. I just wanted to point out the flaws of your argumentation.

Nobody is forcing you to anything. You can just stop playing anytime. But if you chose to play this game, then you sign in for playing it the way the developers allow you to.
