Ive found everything. Below are what I would call rare. The jackets are not rare though they, just spawn in one spot. I once found both in the same room...

 

Art of war- In prist cond is by far the rarest...

Does SA have a Ballistic vest? It's supposed to protect against small arms fire, stabs, and shrapnel. Never seen the Magnum fast loader. The MRD FNP FNX 45 red dot sight is fairly rare, but I have found one that was worn. I imagine Press jacket is rare, but would not wear it. Never seen that Mosin compensator either, nor would I want it. Never seen the Russian Pilot helmet. Ammo boxes are common, and they carry far more than 300 rounds. All I want is the "Ballistic vest" Anyone? B)

I've found all the items mentioned in this thread, and several times, except the press jacket, pilot helmet, the silencer and the Mosin compensator. So I would say those four items (the anti stab vest is quite common in military tents).

I actually just threw the Press Vest away, because it didn't have enough slots. But yeah, I heard it's one of the rarest items.

I keep seeing people say x item is rare after I have seen 10 of them.  I bet very few people have seen or held the walkie talkie yet...I carried one for awhile but eventually dropped it.

In my most recent game I saw 3 of them in the same Fire Station. I didn't pick any of them up though, since I am playing solo anyway.

I've seen multiples of almost all items In 40 hours.

 

So in no particular order, what I think is the hardest to find.

 

1) Hunting backpacks. (Only seen them on players).

2) Ammo boxes. (Only seen on youtube videos).

3) Magnum ammo. (Only found 6 bullets total so far).

4) Handcuff keys. (You can find them, but holy shit are they a pain to look for).

5) Can openers. (Again, you can find them but pain in the ass).

6) Walkie talkies. (If you know where to look you can find them often).

7) Compass. (You'll find one eventually).

8) STONE. (Only seen a few).

9) Pristine scopes. (Hard to find).

10) Pristine combat boots. (Dangerous to find).

11) Non-rotten KIWI. (Good luck).

12) TTsKO pristine gear. (Arguably best non-urban camouflage).

Nothing is really rare, some things are just harder to find or guarded by Bandits.

 

The trickiest thing to find atleast for me is an M4. I haven't had any luck finding one, and the one I did find was glitched on top of a boat and I couldn't get it... bummer.

I think somethings rarity is more a matter of perception based on where one frequents.  I would consider something rare if one can check an area with multiple places that it might spawn, before it has been looted by other players, many times and still not find that item.  If someone else has been there, they may have picked up the item you want up.  I am constantly in Military facilities and the only item I believe to be truly rare that spawns there is a long range scope in pristine condition.  The silencer, whomever said that, is not rare.  I saw it spawned in NWAF in 4 different places yesterday just after the server restarted, all of them were pristine.  The camo jacket can be slightly rare, but probably moreso, because everyone is picking it up when they see it.  I thought the camo vest was rare, today being the first time I saw it, but then I saw 2 more after picking one up (all pristine).  The hunter's backpack is in every (almost) barracks, there are usually approx. 3 backpacks per barracks that spawn and more often than not it is the hunter's pack.

 

I rarely see a mosin, but I realize I am not looking in the right places.

 

I heard rumor they wanted to lower the number of M4 spawns, I believe they have done that (I never read dev notes).  I remember it used to spawn all over the airfield and it was always the first glimmer of hope I would find.  Now I find plenty of ammo and see maybe one M4 in 2 hours of moving from one base to an airfield hitting all the military buildings and checking under bunks.

Logged onto my favourite to find a military base untouched, just to find three M4 on two bunks in the barracks and one in that police building. By the way are there any differences between STANAG and CMAG magazines, performance wise?

 

As someone said, when you equally search all towns/encampments/bases etc. you will find some things rarer than other naturally, as some have only specific spawn points. You can find food almost everywhere, but obviously a M4 will only be in military loot points.

Can Openers rare? I have two. Had like 7 before I dropped all but those two. Figured I'd keep one in case I meet someone worthy of it. They are extremely easy to find in civilian buildings.
