Ranking Of Melee Weapons ?

I know the axe is the best , but which one ? Is the crowbar better than shovel ? Is hammer even a melee weapon ? Are bandits aliens in disguise ? all the questions !

Also Bandits are not quite Aliens, more dwellers of the deep who come forth to make the game somewhat challenging  ;)

The FireAxe is the best axe you can find it kills Zombs in one hit, the woodsplitting one takes two unless you get a hit to the head and then it a one shot kill. 

 

Then the baseball bat and shovel.

 

I don't know if it is true or not, but I believe the kitchen knife doesn't do any damage to zombies or players same with the screwdriver, hammer, or pipe wrench...

 

To be completely honest, I don't attack zombies with anything less than a splitting axe.

I only use the splitting axe. Sure fire axe does more damage but looks dumb, stands out and is heavy (not sure any of that matters though).

If you don't have the 1 of the 2 axes just use fists and leave the others behind.  Everything else is garbage and should be left behind.  Any other melee will increase your viability (especially the fire extinguisher) and make you seem as more of a "threat" to other players.  And for that you'll be spending more time and taking more damage trying to kill zeds with them compared to simply punching them in the face and sprinting away, and if it came down to a melee fight with another player, fists will always win.

I don't bother with the other weapons I'd rather take some extra time and beat on a Z with my fists and know how the fight is going to go then pick up some random weapon and flail about ineffectively.

I respawned and had a kitchen knife in my hands (mainly for opening cans I found) and I stabbed a zombie a bunch of times and he never died.  Your better off running then fighting them with a screwdriver or kitchen knife.  Not saying they can't be killed with them weapons, but they are horrible.

May not be the best weapon but it adds a very high cool factor when you are poking something violently with a pitch fork.
