The amount of people up north is TOO DAMN LOW.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.

Short story.

3 days ago I left Elektro and headed north. Where up north, no idea, just north.

In those 3 days, playing on server with at least 15 people online, I had only 2 encounters. Plus a server hopper (I doubt someone would just disconnect and leave the game under the stairs of the control tower in the NEAF).  3 days, playing 3-4 hours a day.

What's the problem? The average CODlike player has no incentive to leave the shore and head up north. At all. Balota is there, it's all you need.

Loot should at least scale, the further from the shores, the better.

In the balota tent thingy it should not be possible to find m4s, only pistols, modifications and a LOT of medical stuff (It's a medical camp, isn't it?).

This is not a rant about people camping the Balota Airfield with their precious Mosin Nagant, it's more a rant about how empty and silent the north is. I remember how tense was to try and loot the NWAF in the mod in a server with even just 10-11 players. Nearly every time it ended up in a firefight.

I know people already discussed on this topic, but I would like to hear your opinions on how the loot should be scaled and adapted to make the overall experience better, not just having Coast of Duty along the spawn zones and Loot Farming Simulator up north.

I'm happy with every type of loot being pretty much everywhere. If the CoD kiddies that suck at CoD think this is strictly a pvp game and want to camp the coast, all the better. I've had nothing but good experiences up north, so far everybody has been friendly and not a complete douchebag that kills on sight.

And it should be this way.

Most people would roam about and despair in the cities in an apocalypse.. this were their homes.. this is where most food is to be found. Very few would have the courage to unroot and go north.

I think its only realistic, and should stay that way. But there should be loot up there, and maybe more too.

I think once vehicles are added you will see more people up north. It's sort of good if you make the effort at the moment though there is so much loot to be had up there! Also with the current spawns even Balota is a fair hike. Also people are server hopping instead of being forced to travel and look elsewhere for loot.

With how the loot is spread out, I say have people spawn everywhere on the map. To hell with the south coast forever, I want to spawn in Guba Bay, damnit!

I spawned there once, actually. People spawn all over the coast line, both South and East. Just not North-West

On topic: The last time i went to the NWA i got shot in the leg with a pistol. I didnt find the shooter, but bandaged myself and legged it out of there (which was quite unrealistic, considering my leg wound) to circle around. When i had vision of the airfield again, i saw 3 guys with M4's (so not the ones who shot me) running into the airfield.

Maybe it was simply random ''luck'', but i've found the NWA quite crouded.

As someone who lives in Guba: please dont. You are always welcome to hike up and visit, but dont bring the tourists.

A lot of people won't because they will die of hungrier or thirst on the way up, and may have to eat a rotten apple or something to keep

Going and die when they get so close. I know because it was me I died I had to do it eat the rotten apple it tasted funny in mouth but it keep me going. People will when they learn how to survive maybe. I will when I find food to get me their.

I noticed a lack of people there I have been NW air field 4 times, I used to play the mod and it was a mecca for people. Have been shot at once and was there on a 40 server full and did all the tents and cleared all building on the opposite side to the hangers with me mate looking for trouble found nobody, so killed a zombie with my mosin for a quick practice at long range.

As the server population increases I think it will spread the players out a bit more as well as more loot spawns added

It's not really about being owned. It's more about a discussion on what I think it's a problem.

It IS true. Players up north aren't massive jerks, but still it feels so... Empty.

People who are scouting and roaming the north are mainly veterans who know how to play the game properly. True survivors who know every barn and creek, able to survive without visiting the hotspots, rewarded by finding spectecular and amazing new locations like the new castle (near the old fileds), Zed Creek ( nw of it), the standing stones of Altair, the amazing rock formations north of Guba, the new train stations up north etc etc etc....

When loot spawning is added and Balota is constantly empty of loot, players will *maybe* start to explore a little bit more.

Personally I've been enjoying the quietness to learn the landmarks for navigation in the wilderness (got a lovely route worked out for gearing up from the start without going near Balota/NEAF/NWAF or needing a compass) :)

This, plus it is obvious that the north is going to have a ton of areas - even full cities - as the development continues. I know Dean said that one of the intents of the SA is to get people all over the map a little bit more, so I believe that there will be some very enticing loot. There already is, for those of us who have spent a lot of time up there.

I also don't think that the concentration of people around the coast is going to lessen much as long as that is where players spawn, as there are always going to be spawn campers, fresh spawns, and bandit hunters roaming about.

Guba is my favorite too.

OP, as others have said, there are fewer people up north, but they certainly are higher quality players.  Balotafield 4: Modern Coastfare is a noobtrap and a place to shoot at noobs.

i am actually intrigued by the tales of Balota by now, as i haven't been there yet (in the SA).

I think i'll give all my stuff to the next player i meet, and go to Balota wearing only a orange raincoat and a black ushanka

This, definitely.

All the killing at the coast is generally done by the people who want to play the game the easiest/laziest way. It's sad, they won't enjoy what I find is the best part of the game - exploring the map, finding interesting loot and player interaction (NOT Kos).

I've been sticking inland and to the north myself.  However, since I am very unfamiliar with the map, finding food has been difficult.  I fell unconscious from starvation last night but I had managed to survive for two days on soda, sardines and powdered milk.  I will echo the lack of people up there.  I have encountered only a few people since I started playing a couple days ago and they have been near the coast (all this on pretty full, if not full, servers).
