Bad looking Grass and trees

Recommended Posts

Hello

i'm currently running the game on maxed settings everything is on very high/high. But the thing is that the trees and the grass looks like shit. I don't have screenshot right now cuz im on my laptop. Could my Monitor cause the problem ? The max resolution is 1600x900. Anyone got a suggestion ?

Thanks in advance

It's hard to determine what exactly your experiencing without a screenshot.

Alt+printscreen, then paste into MS Paint and throw us a screenshot so we can try to help ya out. It should work on a laptop too.

edit: Yeah like colekern said, you can also use F12 to take a steam-games screenshot and post it that was as well. Good call.

Turn off post-processing.

EDIT: Take Bonesnaps advice and post a screen shot. Just press F12 in-game to to take one.

I noticed when I went from my 20 inch 1600x900 to my new 24" 1920x1080 that the grass and trees look a whole shit ton better. On my old monitor it was looking like there were christmas lights on the trees or something. The light coming through the various gaps in the leaves was distracting and made a sort of epileptic dance. With the higher resolution and bigger monitor I have not had this annoyance one bit!

Yeah resolution and I bet Antialiasing would make the biggest difference. Antialiasing turned up would help smooth the jaggies alot.

Also in rendering, the "alpha to coverage" setting makes a large difference on grass/bushes/tree graphics, I'd max that out as well if you have a beast computer.

Alright maybe the 1600x900 Resolution is a problem. I've got some screenshot for you guys

Settings: http://imageupper.com/g/?S020001008Z138922484418441

In Game: http://imageupper.com/g/?S030001001H1389224901181867

Also the text in the toolbar e.g. the m4a1 name looks blurred

FXAA!!! Turn off FXAA and try SMAA. I noticed the same type of stuff with FXAA enabled on my 1080p monitor.

If that doesn't work, try disabling edge smoothing.

UURRGH. Okay. Did you try disabling it altogether?

Also, what's your graphics card?

dayz SA graphics are not all that immersive. It will never look like battlefield or top tier graphics. It's more bout the experience.

Yes, but those artifacts he's getting aren't normal.

Hmm... tbh the trees in the screenshots look fine to me. At large distances they always render poorly, that's because in the ARMA engine the draw distance are so large. If the rendering of every distant tree was to high resolution you would encounter some serious framerate issues.

How is that max settings? You have  HDR low, post processing and AO turned off..... -___-

Unless everything is on as high as it can go and 100% resolution you aint max settings bruh....

AO adds a lil sumtin sumtin to the grass.

Alright thanks for your help

The only thing I can think of is try turning Antialaising transparency on in Nvidia control panel. If that doesn't work, I don't think there's a fix.

Isn't low the only other setting for HDR other than Very Low? Also, the post processing looks like ass, no reason to keep it unless you want OMG MOTION BLUR SO REAL.

Got my trees looking somewhat better by switching from High to Very High in Textures and Object/Terrain Models:

Sorry about the blur, had post processing on. Turned it off and it made no difference except for the ugly blur.
