mortoopz 23 Posted January 8, 2014 Play on the same server as much as possible, until you figure out its reboot schedule. Once you do and a reboot is due, position yourself somewhere overlooking military supplies and wait for the reboot. Rejoin ASAP then make a game of slaughtering server hoppers, you get a flood of em for the first few minutes, so even the fairly poor loot spots quite often get one. But please, Leave anyone who legitimately walks in alone, don't be a KoS douche bag when you're under no threat yourself.... anyone who just appears in a building is fair game tho. Trust me, it's a lot more satisfying killing people for a good reason. One tip, pretty much everyone starts at the front of a barracks and works back room by room, then when they leave they go from the back room out the front door..... in a straight, predictable line... which can be somewhat helpful for aiming ;).

Zeet. 101 Posted January 8, 2014 I only KOS server hoppers. And I only do it when some noob hops and jacks all the loot in the area, which destroys my fucking immersion. Forced to join another server to continue.
Deathlove 2286 Posted January 8, 2014 Aim for the head, nothing valuable or rare there.Honestly i think hit on some of the damaged items needs to be adjusted via bullets. Seems to be pretty sensitive if your not careful. If the backpack goes red anything good inside goes red and unusable as well which blows. I had a zombie smack me and my pack went red rendering all my optics and crap useless lol.
mortoopz 23 Posted January 8, 2014 Please, leave anyone who is not you alone. Don't be a "tell other people how to play" douche bag when it's none of your business. Two things.1: I was asking not telling, I'm just so bored of running round collecting basics only to be shot for the... umm?, probably about 30th time. (there's really no need to gun someone down if they only got a melee weapon (unless he's charging at you) I mean, you've got a gun, what's a new spawn going to have that you need?). and:2: You know this is an Alpha right?... The whole point being that it's for testing (not for playing)... It's kinda hard to test anything when people kill you long before you manage to gather the parts required to do that testing.I'm still wondering if a camp fire or camping stove, a cooking pot, a bottle of water and some raw rice can be combined to make cooked rice.... Never managed to collect up all the necessary bits and pieces to test it.... thank you KoSsers. Thanks for all the beans guys, Guess I eat well tonight :)
ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted January 8, 2014 there's really no need to gun someone down if they only got a melee weapon (unless he's charging at you) I mean, you've got a gun, what's a new spawn going to have that you need? There's really no "need" to gun anyone down, ever. The game would work perfectly functionality-wise if we were all friendly all the time. We could just go around gathering up Tuna and shooting zombies like fish in a barrel. Killing is not about need, it's about want. You don't have anything I need but what I want is the satisfaction of watching you bleed out. If you've really been killed 30 times before getting the basics, then you need to start learning from your mistakes. Stop trying the shit that's not working. It's getting you killed. Move inland to the midland cities; explore there and the midland military compounds. You should have no problem safely acquiring the supplies you need to then go do whatever it is you're going to do afterward. 2: You know this is an Alpha right?... The whole point being that it's for testing (not for playing). It's an Early Access Alpha, so the point is to test while playing, actually. The developers want game play feedback in addition to bug testing. It's kinda hard to test anything when people kill you long before you manage to gather the parts required to do that testing. Testing the PvP mechanics is just as important as testing anything else. If you want to survive long enough to test other things then just stop dying. It's really not that hard. I'm still wondering if a camp fire or camping stove, a cooking pot, a bottle of water and some raw rice can be combined to make cooked rice.... Never managed to collect up all the necessary bits and pieces to test it.... thank you KoSsers. Try not testing this functionality in the middle of Chernogorsk and you might find more success. It does not.Other times, when I actually want good gear. well, I get good gear... all of it, I've currently got just about everything except a rail forgrip for my M4 (so I can stick a light on), backpack full of supplies and a belly so full I don't want to eat any more in case I start puking... I even found a walkie talkie... not sure how to use it yet, but I've got one.It is indeed not hard if you constantly play like its a death match, but... ya know... I just don't want to do that ALL the time. And yes, they want gameplay feedback, but trust me, there's over half a million players now, right?... and it seems that just about every damn one kills everyone they see.... I think they've got enough data on the combat for now. There might be all kinds of weird bugs associated with fires or cooking or something, but how would we ever know when everyone is playing deathmatch?. ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted January 8, 2014 Yes, we can all be patronising, it's not tricky. I'm not patronizing you, brother. I promise. It's genuine advice. If you keep dying, try something different. I swear to you it's not hard to avoid people who want to kill you. Travel quietly, stay in the trees, stay low, stay off the coast, etc. If you really want to survive, you can. No matter how badly someone wants to "KoS" you, they have to see you first and if you play your cards right by the time they spot you, you will be able to defend yourself. There might be all kinds of weird bugs associated with fires or cooking or something, but how would we ever know when everyone is playing deathmatch?. Because, with all due respect, of those half-million players, quite a few are a damn stretch better at staying alive than you. They're out there setting fire to everything you can possibly imagine. I promise.

Add me on Steam (same name and pic), playing with another guy will bring some fun back into the testing for ya. Plus, we get make some other guys happy. Most guys i met thanked me, because i was the first who didn't shoot them in the face right away. To quote some bloke from yesterday: ''Maybe there is some hope for Standalone after all.'' mortoopz 23 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Oh yeah, You just want to get close and have me let my guard down... because I just said how much awesome loot I'm Lugging..... I know your game buddy, I'm not new to Cherno ;) Good idea tho, Think maybe it's worth trying to gather a 'gang' of people who mainly want to test?.If we have say 6..8 people then we can just take over somewhere like Zelenogorsk (one of my favourite place on the map), 2..3 people on security while the others can just run around like lunatics doing their thing. I really don't have the first clue how people organise these types of thing tho, so if anyone else thinks thats a good idea: suggestions? BTW, 0 found on steam for 'Woodland Warrior'?. Oh, and I'm MortOOPz on steam. I guess connecting there is as good'a way to get started as any, right? (I honestly don't know, I only put steam on for ArmA3, and have never used it for anything other than starting games, has it got chat/VoIP/stuff?) I made a recruiting post, so continue this in the correct sub fora: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/163099-gang-for-testing-playing-gbwestern-europe-servers/ Edited January 8, 2014 by OOPz
