Literally had to go run out to the car and look at mine LOL. Maybe the one in the game is a chinese knock off lol.

Edit: someone beat me to the Chinese knock off joke.. damn.

Hello there

But home users wanting that "look" are more likely to drop100 than 1000 on a sight.

Just an idea :)

The one in the game is not the same as the one we where issued in the 82nd Airborne but I can not speak for other models, ours had a red chevron with BDC

Mmmmmmm

Anyways, here are my findings on the reticle. Thanks to G24HAM for the screenshot.

This is when zeroed at 200 meters... since the scope doesn't "zero" any lower the stadia line for 100 won't work (unless they set the eye point on the 200m line, highly unlikely).

I make no guarantees this is 100% accurate.

Noooope! Maybe that's why Magpul parts are littered all over.

People with airsoft guns, sure.

For a real gun you need the real thing.

Wouldn't the M4 shoot flat enough between 0-200m for it to be accurate enough for the distance?

I remember reading that it shoots the 5.56 round flat enough for them to zero at 25m and it would be fine at 100m.

The 100m setting is redundant in this game, because it will be only 2-3 inches high at the most when zeroed to 200m and 2-3 inches is almost nothing in-game.

That being said the ARMA ACOG was more correct being set to 100 meters... I also believe the markings were more accurate, being easier to do on a 2D scope than a 3D one. The DayZ ACOG seems intended for use in a different way.. why hold over when you can just tap "page up" a couple times?

Also I was very surprised to see both rifles had a 50-meter setting... and similarly to see the pistols were all set at 100 meters... it seems like whoever typed those values in did not have a proper understanding of trajectories.

I like the diagram Gews. I'm going to steal that and keep it in my back pocket to better explain what happens when you shoot a rifle. Thanks!

I know what you are thinking but are a bit off. The Marine Corps (at least when I was in) zero's their rifles at 25 yards. Using the M4 as an example here. The round at 25 yards will be at that exact same height at 370.5 yards. With the M16 it will hit the same height at 25 yards and then at 300 yards. Take a look at the trajectory that Gews posted. The round does change height and is on it's way up at 25 yards and then back down at 300 yards. Back to the M4 example it will reach peak height at 210 yards and will be 9.3 inches above your eye.

Anyway this brings me to another point we are taught, aim center mass. So I have a 25 yard zero and aim at your head (without adjusting) while you are at 200 yards I will shoot right over your head. If I do the same but aim at your chest I am going to hit you neck/head and get the kill. The 5.56 round has a very flat trajectory.

Did all that make sense? Some times I can't explain things as well as I think lol.

In the military we always zeroed for 300 meters, its basically an arc shaped trajectory but yeah its flat enough to hit what you aim for
