capt. beefsteak 95 Posted January 7, 2014 I recently killed, or at least thought I killed a dude, he was nowhere to be found... A few minutes later, him and a buddy came on. I watched them from afar circle around where I was posted to try to find and eliminate me. It was from me a KOS attempt on someone who had some nice gear, perhaps food and another pistol. Sure as shit not going to let someone armed (after playing for a while and learning how people are with weapons) get the better end of the deal on me this time. I watched him make his way toward town with a firearm, on the road, not from the woods, and as soon as he was close enough for the sure kill I put off 10 rounds from my m4. I thought the drop was a little to fast, as i moved toward where the corpse should have been and there wasn't one. You see, I entered this town because I know it, I was on high alert due to bodies already littering the open road. This was the reason for my stealth KOS mantatlity at this moment. That and after last night giving a dude some bandages and water, along with the trade off for can of beans, I was KOS'ed myself entering the hillside of electro.. The game has far to many armed bandits running around, and now, they are combat logging as soon as possilbe, coming back with support and attempting to do what I assumed he'd have done which is why I wanted to kill him. Call me dirty, but if it were you, you'd have done the same thing... I only assume a combat log would have been done if I tried to talk or hold up due to being able to jump into another server, grab a better position and a buddy then hop back in and try to kill me, not to mention I watched them kill a fresh spawn upon logging back into the server to find me. I will remain behind a bush somewhere on a daytime server, waiting to kill all armed people if combat logging isn't stopped, you can bet your ass on it, since I am a solo player attempting to have some fun. Inception. 9443 Posted January 7, 2014 Absolutely not. It is a game-ruining exploit, or unintended feature (for those who argue that it is not an exploit). I deem anyone who combat logs to be pathetic, unless said act is done whilst in the presence of a hacker.
Dayzplayer2 15 Posted January 7, 2014 Kill em all.... But IMO I don't think eliminating combat logging will stop kos at all, not that you said it would, just what I have to say about kos and combat logging.
MuchHigher 65 Posted January 7, 2014 Your poll is odd. Combat logging is annoying, just make that first shot count. I've had some very fun exchanges and do not mind dying so I like to stick around and fight.

nighhawk 41 Posted January 7, 2014 I like to think of it like this. I just ran up on I guy and shot at him, he combat logged. Now a guy fires on me, so why should I get killed.

Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted January 7, 2014 I did not see option #4 take the bullet like a barrel chested freedom fighter respawn on the coast and run straight to NWAF with a pipewrench, therefore I dare not vote.

Don't have this sort of mentality. 'Tis what created most KoS, people get KoS, and become KoS bandits.

colinm9991 196 Posted January 7, 2014 That's two extremely different things man. One is against the law, other is harmless. Actually, one is not against the law; but it's the same mentality as what you have. You are still ruining the game experience for the next person.
nighhawk 41 Posted January 7, 2014 Don't have this sort of mentality. 'Tis what created most KoS, people get KoS, and become KoS bandits.I honestly disagree with this. There comes a point when you get tired of getting knocked out by fresh spawns when you are fully geared.
nighhawk 41 Posted January 7, 2014 Actually, one is not against the law; but it's the same mentality as what you have. You are still ruining the game experience for the next person.I don't always combat log, but when I do I'm probably not armed, or I'm alone. If I fire a shot, I stay in the game til the guys dead or I am.
Mookzen 67 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Combat logging is the stupidest shit ever in a game such as this, obviously it should and will be fixed. Its probably a good idea to allow instant logging in tents, sleeping bags etc. though. Edited January 7, 2014 by Mookzen
Greaves 131 Posted January 7, 2014 I honestly disagree with this. There comes a point when you get tired of getting knocked out by fresh spawns when you are fully geared. How the hell does that happen? If you stop them when 10 m away from you, and they keep running towards you, fists raised, you shoot the stupid fella. I've never had that happen though. I've never had that happen though.I've had it happed a few times, once I had a zombie hit me, started bleeding and a guy ran up and said friendly. I assumed it was safe so I started bandaging and he ran up and knocked me out in one punch. Now I either stay away from them or if I see one near me, I say stay away and if he comes near me I murder them. DaniWesNL 4 Posted January 7, 2014 Unfair to the stealth player? Unfair in any case!
Fabik 71 Posted January 7, 2014 he ran up and knocked me out in one punch. Really? The few times i've tried fighting zeds with bare hands, it was taking forever to put them down. And the ArmA engine is HORRIBLE when it comes to melee fighting :/
Fabik 71 Posted January 7, 2014 Also, please define combat logging. Because, i'm sure players with different playing styles (from the survivalist who tries to avoid all contact to the bandit camping in Elektro/Balota/Cherno) will have different takes on what is or isn't fair game. radivmoe 47 Posted January 7, 2014 it is game breaking. and for people don't understand, that means DON'T DO IT.
korpisoturi (DayZ) 127 Posted January 7, 2014 Boohoo I didn't get my kill. This should be stopped. This is wrong. People who do logging are dumb and lower humans. Devs this is more important to fix than ANYTHING ELSE,forget the game breaking bugs.
colinm9991 196 Posted January 7, 2014 it is game breaking. and for people don't understand, that means DON'T DO IT. Is it preventing you from launching the game, or is it causing crashes and dump files to generate?

Fabik 71 Posted January 7, 2014 it ruins the entire experience.combat mechanisms are not game breaking stuff. no need to spend workforce on this until at least beta.
