How many players ou there would still play DayZ if the only weapons were the Makarov and Enfields ? I know I would.

Doom had specific ammos for each weapon... Why can't DayZ do the same ? or Why even bother put so many different weapons in the game in the first place ?

So when a friend has been shot in a certain fire station and warns you over VoIP about what happened, you don't think you are 'reducing the challenge of the game' ? Come on...

Using VoIP is a crutch. Just like loot maps are a crutch. OP idea wasn't to have crutches removed. If you wanna use them, do it. But you can't say that VoIP and loot maps are not cheats. They are. Just like walkthroughs are cheats for solo games.

Can't you 3rd party VoIP advocates see a difference between using Teamspeak in a game like Quake/Counterstrike/Planetside 2 and using it in DayZ ? Don't tell me I'm the only who sees the difference... .

Yes. :) Unless you only communicate with your clanmates/friends ingame. ;)

All these elements definitely make the game easier for you. So how do you call it ? Easy mode ? So i'll edit my original post. 3rd party VoIP = 3rd person view = loot maps = Easy Mode Satisfied ?

OK... Notice how I said that 3rd party VoIP is a 'cheat' and not a cheat. It's not a cheat per se, but it's a crutch. A huge crutch. Just like 3rd person view is a crutch. Just like loot maps are a crutch. The more crutches you use, the easier the game gets. Why people can't understand that ?

Nope. Played the mod for a long time. Summer 2012 if I remember correctly. ;) Squad vs squad fighting is NOT what makes (should make?) DayZ unique.

Are you playing other games where you are a survivor washed up on a shore with nothing but a torchlight ?

I love how my 'useless' thread has generated 7 pages of comments. :rolleyes: - I didn't say that VoIP should be prevented. It can't be done. Why would I ask for the impossible ? Wow... so many casual players in DayZ, for whom the game is just a platform to socialize with their friends and they don't give a rat's ass if the game succeeds at being a SURVIVAL GAME and not some Second Life clone... :huh:

Don't take SURVIVAL as a justification for KoSing. KoSing is NOT the right decision if you want to survive. I used to check the average life span of players on a few private hives where I played the mod. KoSers / bandits die more often than peaceful players.

Well I wish there was more than just running around though... I mean what's the point of surviving in this game ? Kill to get more guns to kill to get more guns to kill to get more guns.... Groundhog Day in Chernarus...
