Ability and tools to calculate Latitude and Longitude

Like having the maps show Lat and Long so instead of saying "I'm by this rock lol" to your friend you would instead say "I am at about X by Y"

and other tools to help us find it.  Like a sextant and a watch.

I would like to have a nice gold pocket watch in game.

I am quite sure they will add some kind of watch :-)

 

You can already get your position on the ingame map by using a compass and landmarks, I wrote something in the DayZ wiki here: http://dayz.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Orientation

it was for the mod but most information still applies - I think the clouds no longer move in only one direction though

 

 

edit: once you know your opinion on the ingame map you can give your buddy the grid coordinates

Miasmata has an excellent map mechanic using triangulation to find location. Perhaps something like that could be added (would add a use for pens/pencils).

I would love to see some sort of feature where you can right click on a map to "triangulate".

It could give you a large circle over the area you're in, but not your precise location.

From there you would have to use landmarks.
