Adding AI with RPG's in Epoch

So I have added a lot of things onto my Epoch server, nothing not normally in Arma II : OA but basically giving a person more options in weapons and such. How i've done this, is i've put SARGE AI on my server and completely redone their loot tables so that they have normal weaponry but there are other weapons not normally lootable that are gained by killing them. Things such as L85 AWS, Laserdesignater, and you get the idea of where I am going.

 

Now my biggest question is this. I have several APC's (M113, and LAV HQ) on my server but there's no AT anywhere except for a few things such as KSVK. I want to add RPG's and such to my AI but what i'm wondering is, since RPG's are a secondary weapon will the AI use that AND a primary weapon or will they just nor have them spawn at all.

 

How do I make it so my Sarge AI uses both a weapon and an RPG?

You can add the RPG's, but they way it's working they won't be using it.

 

They will be carrying it, possibly even use their pistol, but most of the time they will just run around utterly useless.

I think my main question is will they carry it as a backpack slot item and switch to it to deal with vehicles and AT?

So I may end up making this a blog of sort for new people to opening their own server.

 

I've been tinkering with this, trying out server hosts and such and in truth I think the one that allows you to do the most and is best for a new admin is the DayZ.st host. Admin panel is amazing to use, works great and is very easy to use for testing on your server. Having an easily work on control panel that HFB never gave me is also great, I am loving it.

 

Some things i've noticed in my adventure through hair pulling are a few things.

 

Choose your weapons carefully, test, and retest.

 

I've tried adding weapons and ammunition on things like SARGE AI and it really, really doesn't like some weapons at all. Also choose your models well when choose AI skins. Unless you are using RMod (Which I am not, because I want to keep it simple) some of the models just get stuck in the ground and stand there. So be a little careful about what you choose for your AI, and always pay attention to things as you play. If you notice your AI are not spawning in numbers you tell them to ( I set mine to 5, I was noticing a lot of 4) it's probably because one of the skins didn't load, or got stuck in the ground, or whatever....

 

 

More to come as I see it.

 

A big thumbs up for DayZ.ST though, great server hosts.

So I added the M32 and the AA12 to my server. In order to give the AI different ammo to use in situations, I changed their config to add ammunition at a 20% chance to be in their gear. Last time I tried this, I completely broke Sarge AI (and the server) this time it only broke Sarge AI. Not sure what caused it, was it adding inventory to the AI or giving them something like extra ammunition? Will have to test this to see what is happening here.

 

Test 1: Sat at the ATC in NE airfield for some time, no chopper spawns, nothing. Not sure what happened so going to remove ammunition in their config.

 

Test 2: Removed all ammunition in the inventory, spawning them with the M32 still and the AA12. Let's see how this works out. | Seems that this worked, adding ammo to their inventory was causing the game and SARGE AI not to work well together. On a side note, looks like one of the issues I had with HFB has been solved on DayZ.ST. I don't have to edit my battleye at all to allow for Sarge to spawn certain choppers in. Starting to really appreciate DayZ.ST.
