sobieski12 835 Posted January 6, 2014 and teamspeak, and gamma at night, and all other exploits that ruin the game. people complain at a lack of realism and then use game-breaking exploits like looking at the map online lol Oh please, and your going to make this community believe that you never used any voip program while you played DayZ. * This counts , Teamspeak, Skype, Ventrilo, Mumble, hell even Steam has a voip program. As for maps, I'll just use DayZDB. As for the realism .... yeah.... We have a 3rd person camera.
Mullucka 34 Posted January 6, 2014 Exactly what i was thinking. Plus it makes people traverse through the map instead of staying on the beach. I know you could easily get acces to the whole map through dayzdb, but from my personal experience i want to have the complete map in my inventory. Think of it as having the best gear in the game. Would also be cool to find someones semi explored map and see where they've been
omgwtfbbq (DayZ) 1069 Posted January 6, 2014 I've never seen these map threads before KoS' thread. Sometimes I swear people just read old topics and re-word thus re-posting them for fun. I looked on the forums for anything involving maps in the standalone but this thread didn't come up.

You never looked at the map outside the game? Interesting.
whothehellishe 81 Posted January 6, 2014 Balls, now my mates found the interactive map online with loot information and they actually know more than me...i told them this aint good but i cant really blame them when we spend like 1 hour to regroup, either way exploration is now is ruined. Well fuck it, ill just force feed the map to someone random. Personally the current state of the map just pushes new players to look online and im sure that wasnt the intention from the devs.
piru 13 Posted January 6, 2014 The map is there to distract tourist while we sneak up on them. Its much easier when they try to juggle 4 maps and figure out where they are. Just wait till they add wind effects!
BigCountry 26 Posted January 6, 2014 Until you can set waypoints like dayzmod the ingame map is useless anyway. Just use the map provided on the web.

TheStevieJ 4 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) and teamspeak, and gamma at night, and all other exploits that ruin the game. people complain at a lack of realism and then use game-breaking exploits like looking at the map online lolIf they did not implement a useless feature and take out useful features such as waypoints, then people would not use DayZ DB to do so. If they are going to implement a map, then implement a whole map, you think finding 4 pieces scattered is realism? You think someone who is new to the game is going to search for endless hours with a high chance of being shot to find the map pieces just to find out which town is where due to them not having a clue rather then going online for a split second to gather where they are? Please. Define your definition of game-breaking because looking online just to look where towns are is not it. Is not like it shows players locations, only feature of it being game-breaking to me is showing where weapons, supplys etc are. Team speak is used in a variety of different online games for an ease of communication whilst playing with friends or in a group. Really is not even close to an exploit in my opinion, gamma is though. Edited January 6, 2014 by TheStevieJ
