I believe the idea is that the private hives will still have to connect to the main server and work on their own instanced database, this allows them to have private hives without releasing the server files for the database. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

My understanding is they will use a separate shard/partition of the same database. This allows communities to have their own private servers (which can also be grouped together) without it affecting the main hive and without giving server owners direct access to the database.
