TracksuitHitman (DayZ) 9 Posted January 5, 2014 Hey everyone. I've been playing DayZ for quite some time with a GT 630, which we all know is a shitty graphics card. Just recently (few weeks) I purchased a GTX 660. I expected this to increase my FPS heavily, especially with my problem in-towns. I've been playing Wasteland (DayZ shares the problem) and every time I enter a city (Elektro, Cherno, Berezino) my FPS drops greatly. This shouldn't be happening? I get 40-50 FPS everywhere but cities/towns. I am disappointed at my graphics card's performance. Could anyone help me? Is there anything to aid this problem? (Note: This also effects me in DayZ Standalone)
sabre05 351 Posted January 5, 2014 DayZ the mod runs off of ARMA 2 which is terribly optimized, the Standalone currently has not had ANY optimization done to it.

This is "push your CPU to it's limit".
JulioRey 11 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) turn objects detail to very lowambient inclusion offpost process off but the objects detail is the most important for citys, make a huge differencetextures, terrain, all this stuff you can set very high without fps drop Edited January 5, 2014 by JulioRey
colekern 1364 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) it's been said more than a million times before, dayz runs off its own engine. the devs reworked the entire engine so it's no longer a mod. hence 'standalone game'. almost like ARMA 2.5. and they have optimised it to an extent, but they have a long way to go. They optimized the servers and did very simple client optimization; heavy optimization hasn't begun yet. As for OP, your CPU is probably the bottleneck. DayZ doesn't yet support multicore processing, and it's very CPU reliant, hence the bad performance for everyone.
