  1. 1. What's your stance in the gaming world?

    • PvP, Cause fuck everything else
    • PvE, Cause I enjoy the smaller things
    • Both, I like to mix it up

My Stance: Both

Current Issue: No one gives a fuck about either side (If your a PvPer or a PvEr)

Solution: Instead of bitching about both sides, learn to accept both sides and let them be.

Reason(s) for posting this: I've been on almost every front in the gaming industry, I've enjoyed PvE and I've enjoyed PvP. The main issue is no one cares about anyone else's opinion and their stance, as stated for the solution don't bitch about both

sides, learn to accept both sides.

If you're PvPer stick with your side and only your side and do NOT attack the ones that like to enjoy the finer bits and pieces of the game.

If you're a PvEr as stated just above stick with your side and only your side and do NOT attack the ones that like to enjoy the slaughter-fest we call the "Call of Duty Mentality".

Once rocket allows or changes his stance on locked servers part ways and NEVER talk to one another again.

If you enjoy both aspects equally, good job on you, you can see past the stupidity and the extremism that's present in the gaming industry.

i agree accept both view's stop telling people pve will ruin dayz or dayz is supposed to be a deathmatch its all so dumb...dayz is supposed to be about both its just the pve is poorley implemented cause rocket has sided with the pvper's and not taken the "i choose both" road

this game could rise to great heights if pve was better represented and pvp was flushed out to something more than this cod crap of spawn/kill/spawn..

for a game with such massive potential it is getting ruined by pvp carebears thinkin their way is the only way...and it has crushed any representation the pve community had..

BUT

this game needs both to survive it needs to make player life worth something while making pvp have objectives out side of "lulz i just killed a bambi"

i enjoy both but feel this game is nothing more than an open world deathmatch with a side touch of fail at being a survival sandbox.

If you didn't pick both why are you playing this game?

It is fine if you lean one way or the other but if you ONLY want one or the other then there are probably better games out there for you.

Deffinately both, but I think there needs to be a major increase of thing to simulate real world empathy and humanism. NO matter what all these KoSers say the rule of law is NOT the only reason humans dont kill each other. It is another life you are taking. So, more mechanics to dissuade KoS in a video game where there are no negatives to KoSing are needed.

My god, all you have to do is take a look at the military. We are payed to kill the enemy. THE ENEMY. And yet we are torn apart for having to do so and seeing our fellow comrades in arms killed. PTSD is real world problem, not a video game problem. Video games desensitize. So if we want DayZ to be realistic, we need to find video game mechanics to help simulate some how.

Both, definitively, but I still think there should be things to combat KOS. Less KOS=/= No PVP, and more things to combat fucking spawn killing...

Solid post. I have seen my fair share of shit and that is why I am against any mechanic telling us how to play. You know as well as me that EVERYONE handles it differently. I don't want some cookie cutter mechanic that says "you kill x people you start to shake" or something silly.

It all comes down to the beans... cans of delicious beans.

And they want... no NEED your beans.

As Charlton Heston was quoted as saying:

"You can take my beans, but if you want my can opener... you'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands!"

I may have misheard the quote, though.

Can't PvE if there isn't any E.

And there's no ME in PvP....

Another one:

The E in PvP is irrelevant!       <- Sry, that one's v. weak.

I look at it this way in real life i gotta look out for myself i cant just be like hey im friendly and the random guy who broke in my house to murder me will have tea with me. Take it like real life be cautious,Really cautious in real life they have some crazies that would love to wear your skin.

And with a game like this that simulates the world gone to hell in a hand basket with NO repercussions they can do it.

So instead of getting mad about pvp pve just remember we cant turn off pvp in real life and i wouldn't expect it any other way the only way to stop someone from killing you is killing them first or running away plain and simple

Remember this isn't a flame thread or what ever, this is a thread about current issues with the gaming industry and a place to voice their stances in the gaming industry as in 3 fronts that are here, aka PvP PvE and or Both.

you all sound like a bunch of whining little girls, if you cant stand getting killed , go play another game , this game has GUNS in it, stop being a little bitch and learn to shoot.

I clicked both however I view PVE as an enabler of PVP. In this game and another I play called EVE online. I PVE efficiently because it means I have to do it less. So I can shoot other peeps. The thrill is in the hunt.

Can we get a purge for this user? He clearly doesn't understand the concept of a "flame free" thread, and to african you obviously do not understand the point of this thread, I want to see where everyone is at with their stance in the gaming industry, You obviously do not see the overwhelming numbers of "Both" compared to PvP and PvE, Both as in the player enjoys BOTH PvP and PvE but does NOT favor either or, this is also a way to bring the extremist children out and force feed them valid information about the current status of the gaming industry, yes I know its hard to maintain both sides but there's easy ways to deal with it as well, unfortunately for you there's ALWAYS more to games that PvP. Another user said on the forums that anyone who does nothing BUT PvP has no real imagination nor do they have a clue of what OTHER things there are to do.

In the game's current state there isn't really anything to do but PvP so that's what I do. Usually with a group or with friends.

When they add lots of zombies things are going to be much much different though. Rather than simply going door to door in cities and getting all the food you need you'll always be chased by zombies or have to sneak by them because they would be everywhere. Camping, hunting, base building, and storage for gear will also give tons more incentive to PvE. But for now I have to kill.

Come on you PvP elitists lets go.

The "carebears" are the elitists.

The "carebears" are the ones supporting servers that kick or ban anyone who doesn't have the same playstyle.

I am squarely in the "both" camp.

I don't think it is about elitism. It's about maturity (or a lack thereof), and general antisocial behavior.

Those who seek to impose their will on others are either limited in terms of their empathy, broken, or immature. With the age range of those who play the game (and the high neckbeard ratio), that's both understandable and expected.

I say that about both sides of this argument.

Let people play the way they want to play, and that includes respecting the opinions of those with whom you disagree. In real life you can disagree, and if you cross a line, there are consequences. Some lines are drawn by us (social sanctions), and some for us (laws). That's somewhat simplified, but it applies. Say you call my mother a whore. Even if she is, I'm probably going to punch you in your gob, and it's going to hurt. That's a social sanction. Then, I'll likely be arrested. Maybe for simple assault, but if you really pissed me off, maybe aggravated. That's a law.

In DayZ there are no consequences. None. Dying? Losing gear? Nope. If you call my mother a whore in DayZ I will shoot you in your face ... unless you shot me first. Or maybe you have God-mode engaged. Even so, worst-case scenario you start all over at the beach. Or stuck in Novy. But most likely at the beach. No consequences ... not even a bruise. It's easy to be impersonal, despite it doing a decent job at creating the most immersive and engaging environment I've ever seen. It's still easy to dehumanize. It's like all the other drivers on the road. They are all assholes (and deserve to die).

So, aside from those broken exceptions, why does one (a rational human being) enter a server that is PVE only and kill players? To impose their will? To get some easy kills? To break shit and laugh, metaphorically? I'm not sure but I think it's a bit of all three. And seriously, come on, it's almost literally fish in a barrel. Only not fish, and not quite a barrel, and it's a bit larger than that. It's newbs coming to YOU. "Friendly in Cherno?" You bet. BANG!

The preceding paragraph applies only to private hive MOD servers, because neither public hive MOD or current SA servers are actually allowed to ban anyone from the server for PVP. Even so, if a bunch of carebears, as some call them, want to hold hands and run along the shores of Chernarus singing kumbaya, what's it to you? This is the part I don't understand.

And for the PVE camp: why bust a nut when someone does that? It's going to happen. No amount of rational discourse will change the fact that PVE-only advertising is like lighting the "all-you-can-eat-for-5-bucks" light at some greasy spoon in Alabama. The fatties are going come running, in carloads (and clans). Shit? Meet flies.

All that said, this entire argument only makes sense when dealing with reasonable people.

PVE in the standalone only exists because of PVP, because the E is no challenge. The E in the mod, same thing. Once you knew how to deal with zombies, staying alive was a piece of cake, and players represent the only true threat. This is my opinion, alone, but why I like the PVP/PVE aspect together.
