tremanarch 42 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) How long will server be online when Respawn is enabled? will there be enough time (months) for geocaching? or could there be some "item" hive for servers? Edited January 2, 2014 by Phace
hoax2 2 Posted January 2, 2014 When / if tents are added as they were in the mod geocaching in some sense would be possible.Someone can correct me but I think in the mod tents/cars remained consistent on the server as long as it was saved by a player every seven days. I'd like the option to half-bury the small protector cases and have them behave the same as tents did in the mod.
EndEffeKt 87 Posted January 2, 2014 A very cool idea. You could bury some stuff for easter and announce it here :)

Really great idea this idea alone needs a thread to see what the community thinks. also I'm sure it would not be to hard to implement. aodqw97 78 Posted January 2, 2014 I don't really get geocaching..if I'm correct the coordinates of the cache are published to find it, but it has to be returned to exactly the same place?I don't see where the fun or interest lies with that.Or do I misunderstand it? Yeah you get it. Normally it's not moved at all, you just add your name to the log to say you found it.IRL it's like a hike with an objective. A lot of people like hiking just for the view; to each his own i say.
OrLoK 16186 Posted January 2, 2014 Hello there I was recently thinking about geocaching and it might be a nice touch, but with notes already in game, surly a primitive form of a "paper-chase" could already be done? We did geocaching before phones and GPS believe it or not! Rgds LoK

A lot of people like hiking just for the view; to each his own i say.Ok thanks for clarifying..I still don't see the attraction though. If the cache moved then yes it would be interesting. I don't see the point of going to find something that everyone already knows the whereabouts of.However! we have a constraint here and that's the boundaries of the map. Wouldn't it be more fun if the finder put the cache somewhere else each time and the coordinates were auto published? You would have to put something into the cache before it became 'dropable' and if you were killed before you reburied it then the cache would lay there for the next finder to bury?Is anyone getting this?Obviously the map area that could be used would need to be a coded area so that some bright spark couldn't put it in the 'off the map' area. Done. (I left an M4 in a barn and gave a stranger directions to it just the other day). The problem is what the OP is talking about. At the moment items are cleaned up every 4 hours when the server resets (Pretty sure but would love clarification on this.)
