majogl 10 Posted January 4, 2014 There is a thing called user ID... DayZ would use that to see to it that one user does not log in with more than one character into one server (neither at the same time, nor singly). That wouldn´t effect more users playing on one PC. floj 393 Posted January 4, 2014 Bad idea: Use your freshspawn character to go to risky areas for loot - send him to your tooled up character to offload - repeat.Your primary character never has to go to an airbase and can still be fully geared up with zero risk... Won't separate hives enable you to have multiple, non-interactable characters though? Different character on each hive.

Yes... you missed the point of this suggestion. I basically propose, that it would be possible to have multiple characters tied to one user ID and that once one of those characters logged into a server, the other characters tied to his user ID wouldnt be able to log into that server until it restarted... smoq2 221 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) Huge NO to this suggestion. If you want to see the implications multiple chars have on a survival game, go check WarZ aka. Infestation (or vice-versa) forums. Vengeance ghosting, camping same place with multiple chars, char mules, etc. Those are just a few factors that eventually shift the game from PvPvE to PvP with loot finding, after which we can add global inventory, safe zones, and merge Bohemia with HP together with Hall and Titov. To all of you who want convenient solutions: DayZ is not a convenient game, and nor it should be. Everything you want to do should be achieved by hard and long work, which makes you even more cautious of not loosing your (only) character. If you want to reach your friends, it should be hard and time consuming. If you find this discouraging, close the game, uninstall it, and play something else. TangoAlpha 39 Posted January 4, 2014 Has anyone recently replying read the thread I linked to with Rockets response? I think two characters would totally work so long as each character is on a seperate database as Rocket himself has said they're thinking of doing. For the lazy, I will copy and paste the response here. I have a situation right now where I am on a spot with a friend and we decided that we will continue from there after christmas but I have another friend who would like to get to know the game more and learn it and I don't really feel like running for couple hours to the spot he is in. This is the part where a couple different characters would help quite a lot. Valid point. I'm not sure how we'd work it, I'll have a think and get back on this one. Perhaps when we allow certain servers to operate on their own section of the hive it might alleviate this issue. For example, you could have one character on a hardcore database and one on the normal database.

With what i said what you suggested would be impossible...Majogl, even if a second character can join after a server reset, as soon as tents or other forms of loot storage are implemented that delay won't matter. What would be the point of having two characters in that sense anyway? The only plausible way to do this would be Rocket's way, which would be to have two characters-- one for the main hive, and one for the hardcore hive. Which means you wouldn't be able to choose which character you use for each server. The benefit of doing it like this would be to prevent people from gearing a character on a standard server, then switching to a hardcore server with an advantage. Send your nooby freshspawn character to tool up...then offload to your friend's primary character... have him return the favour with his freshspawn for your primary... each of you end up with pimp gear without ever risking anything. sYs 133 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) I already said you wouldnt be able to log in on the same server with a second character until it restarts... have you read that? or you just put on your tinfoil hat and post regardless of what others write? Too complex, to big strain on global db. Keep it simple, keep it effective. Edited January 4, 2014 by sYs

I think majority of people would invite this without doing that kind of stuff...
