Why are my shots impacting the ground infront of me?

Recommended Posts

So I seem to be having trouble with the weapons, I've noticed the M4 and especially Mosin, while prone or sometimes crouched, my shots are impacting the ground far away from where my scope is actually positioned. Many times both when my target was far away or close with the scope aimed at their head or body they would be alerted by the perfectly positioned shot which end up pissing out the end of the gun onto the ground as if there were an invisible wall in front of me.

I am using first person to aim, so that shouldn't be the problem. I hear that changing your FOV will affect mildots and range or something, maybe it is the cause of this? How would I set my FOV back to default if that is the case? If not then what is the fix for this?

Is there a fix?

Change positions.

I've had my gun actually shoot a tree 1m-2m behind me (according to friend). I also had a rock, that was at my knees while i was standing, block a shot. Not to mention this bug as well when lying prone. Probably a mixture of desynch and where the shot originates on the weapon model.

Are you wasting bullets on zombies like a super genius? That's a brilliant way to prepare yourself for when they actually increase the number of zombies. Or alert every other player in town that there's someone nearby that needs killing. Sorry I assumed you weren't that bad of a player.

It could also be that I never said everyone 'who shots' is KOS'ing but rather if they made 'shot'ing appear broken maybe less people would attempt to 'shot' other players in the face.

I didn't know defending my group from bandits was a bad thing. I should probably run around with no weapons letting people fire theirs at me while I spread love and kindness to everyone I see next time right?

I have a potential fix and it works.

Find a Mosin and get a long range scope. The scope comes zero'd at 200, bump that up to 300 and your shots will never hit the ground.

I have yet to find a long range scope. So that won't work out so well yet haha.

Best place is those tents with no floor, just dirt. Hit NWAF or Bolota, preferably NWAF.

I'm actually logged out at NWAF cuz my friend needs a long-range scope [i have one]. I'm sure we'll find one when we log in. Good luck!

Oo yeah, just a reminder...if your using a M4A1, do not acquire an acog scope. It looks cool, but for some reason bullets go everywhere. I was slicing shots from 50 yards with that scope in pristine condition.

Get a bipod and go prone you will see it's spot on accurate even at 500m

So you are being attacked and are worried that the bandits will be alerted at your gun fire, in the middle of a gun fight...

You're picking off fresh spawns in Elektro, don't lie. lol just kidding, I never implied that you were the reason they might be faking this to cut down kos so why did you assume I was? Are you feeling guilty for all the fresh spawn blood on your hands?

I was aiming a player sniping in the tower at the north end of NWAF (next to that military bunker and two industrial buildings). I was at sniper nest upper floor, my barrel was over the side of the bunker and my friend confirmed this. It looked like i could take the shot but it kept hitting the bunker, so i went prone and tried to shoot from there (pristine bipod, LRS, zeroed at 400) and even then my bullets kept hitting the bunker. This time to the floor though. So it's not zeroing NOR the grass that keeps doing this.

Annoying as hell, but i read that it is a bug and it is reported so i guess all we can do is wait :P

Are you sure it's not just that you think the bullets should come out of your eyes?

Just because your scope can see something doesn't mean the barrel is un obstructed.
