I just ended up watching a video on a game called The Dead Linger (TDL). Looks pretty cool and I wonder how it's going to compare to DayZ.

The survival/horror genre is definately taking off these days.  I am sure plenty of titles will come in the future but none so far have the same feel when I try them.

Is this specifically about TDL or what? I expect it to be a great game but it's not the same as DayZ at all except for scavenging. I'm waiting on it to get to a playable state for me and haven't tried the most recent update.

In the end I feel like DayZ will give you the best simulation experience. But TDL does look pretty cool, but videos and actual gameplay are different. I'm gonna wait until atleast beta before i give it a try.

The difference is they pretty much let people play it with what they had. They were up front that is VERY early Alpha at least.

 

WarZ claimed to exist for some time prior to its release and then the devs tried to keep the charade going.

 

 

In the last build it wasn't all that great, but a new build just came out so it might be worth looking into again if you're stalking it. Hunting is soon to be added I believe.

Bought TDL well over a year ago it has promise, but with the recent engine overhaul has a ways to go still.

I really wouldn't call it horror. Thats like saying a party city mask is scary. I feel as if this is just a survival simulation with zombies as well as all the other games that have come out sort of like this. You want a survival horror game play outlast.

I will say that DayZ has the scary psychological aspects in some cases that COULD feel like horror but idk...we will see when more content is thrown out.

I would be more impressed if I saw dead bodies...like a couple leaning on a wall holding each other dead...a zombie child with a doll gripped in her hand dead in a church or something. Nether kind of has stuff like this...but...after understanding how they are planning to make their game I just hate them forever. The aesthetics is what got me playing but the gameplay is just horrible.

I fear I will never get my psychological horror in an MMO setting evar...

The game known as "Rust" i believe will be a good competitor against the mighty Dayz mainly for it's based building aspects., which i wouldn't mind seeing Dayz adopt like in Epoch.. Best of both worlds :)

I'm under the impression rust is just as lacking as DayZ when it comes to content but it does look like it could be good.
