To those who complain about spawn killers.

Recommended Posts

I usually tend to stay away from posting on internet forums, but I feel this needs to be addressed. I'm an Arma II and DayZ Mod veteran, I loved Arma II and the Vanilla DayZ mod. I've seen too many posts complaining about people who spawn kill, saying it should be removed by making safe zones or other ridiculous ways of removing it. This is a Zombie Apocalypse, there shouldn't be hand holding, at all. The reason DayZ is so incredible is that it allows the player to due what he/she pleases. There are no rules in the Zombie Apocalypse.

If you're a new player, start off by watching tutorials on youtube before going in-game, do your research. Stay away from Balota. Yeah, gear may spawn there, but everyone and their mother is there, looking for gear, or bandits trying to kill new players. The reason spawn killers are rampant right now, is because of Balota and the amount of players who have the need to go there. Venture north, plenty of places spawn good gear.

Spawn killing should not be removed, I'll be the first to admit, when I first got DayZ Mod, I was already an Arma II vet, but I had no idea that I would be getting killed on the coast. After my first death, I immediately knew to move north right away. People will do as they please, and the guys who usually spawn kill are the easiest guys to kill. I understand that it's frustrating getting killed a lot, but it wouldn't be DayZ if you didn't die. Demon Souls/Dark Souls are two of my favorite games of all time, and on the first playthrough of either game it will also be one of the hardest games you'll ever play. If those games held your hand, they wouldn't rank as some of the best games of all time. DayZ will become another COD game if you start removing the things that make it great.

I believe there's 3 stages to DayZ. Stage 1: The Noob. The new player who struggles to even find beans, a person who once they find their first weapon will be ecstatic but will likely die due to trying to be friendly with EVERYONE. Stage 2: The Average Player. No longer trusting in the good in people, a person who's able to find gear much easier now, but will kos no matter what. And finally Stage 3: The Veteran: A person who's become much more skilled, able to get fully kitted in a day or so, a person who's not afraid of other players and can hold them up with ease, or let them go if he sees them as not a threat.

Finally, DayZ is a great game, spawn killers are not a big threat once you start dedicating time to getting good. And you WILL get good it just takes time. This game really isn't for the casual gamers, it's not like COD or Battlefield. There's a learning process, stop taking the time to complain and take the time to get good. The real issues are combat logging and server hopping, not spawn killers. And to just put this out there so nobody assumes I'm a spawn killer, I hunt bandits, not new spawns.

TL:DR - Spawn killing isn't a big deal, just take the time to get good.

Absolutely senseless KoS'ing  - like sniping a freshspawn from a mile - is just griefing. 'nough said.

Killing people at balota isn't spawn killing. Balota has two military zones there. And you are likely to get shot by someone even when you are there trying to kill people. And people going to balota are trying to get guns themselves.

Killing people along other areas of the coast is nooby gameplay. If you sit there waiting for people to spawn just so you can shoot them. You are a noob bandit. There is no risk. Doesn't matter how good you are when you spawn and immediately get shot from some dude who found a gun and sat on the coast.

Being sniped is being a noob player.  Learn to play the game and you wont get bitch slapped so much.

If I wanted to play a deathmatch game, I would play Arma, or BF, etc.

I want to play a survival game.   At the moment it is SOOO extremely easy to survive. you are forced to do 1 of 2 things.

1. Hunt other Players

or

2. Loggoff... you found food and water, you win DayZ.

It will be interesting to see what happens when there are 150 players per server.   There will be an average of 15-20 Players at each hotspot.

Doesn't matter how good you are wen you spawn walk 10 feet then get insta killed. It could happen several times in a row in the Mod. And you could have spawned close to friends. Then suddenly you are in kamenka.

Well, I think, the guy who pulls the trigger is responsible for the shot.

And as we all know, sniping on a spawnpoint must be really pro.

Btw. You're not killing everyone because you're an outstanding player... you just do it, because you can't get full control on the situation and shoot after the communication or watching your victim.

I have designated a safe house for me and my 20 odd friends to meet up before heading out raiding and meeting after death.
A Friend Asked me what makes it a safe house, I replied "It is full of our Friends Armed to the teeth" That is the only form of safe zone I ever want to see in this game.

When I new spawn in, i run to balota and hide in the grass near the military tents. I wait for a geared player to come by and look in those tents. When i see that he is looting i run in and punch him to death and take his stuff.  So don't say you stand no chance when there are geared players at balota

You think DayZ is hard?  It isn't.  It's a lot easier to do well at it than any other FPS.

Also, stage 3 is KoS everything, and keep an eye out.  We caught a group of 5 guys handcuffing a dude to have some fun, guess what happened to them.  Yeah, 5 guys and their handcuffed new friend got shot.

Videos on Youtube of funny hold-ups are cute and all, but they open you up to getting ambushed pretty easy.  No thanks, I'd rather keep my gear.

Never said it was hard, but there is a learning curve. And DayZ is easier than other FPS games? No, it's not. It's ridiculously easy to drop 100 kills in both COD and Battlefield.

Who the hell cares if you die when you first spawn?  Just respawn, and you lost about 3 minutes of time.  Big deal.  Besides, it isn't "griefing" unless you are dying repeatedly to the same player or same group of players.  Being killed once does not constitute griefing.  'nough said.

It's even easier to shoot somebody in the head with 1 bullet.  Nah, there isn't much of a learning curve either.  Any non-handicapped person can grasp DayZ within 15minutes.

DayZ doesn't take any skill really.  Just stay out of danger, don't be a moron, play with your friends, etc etc.  Easy, so easy.

Spawn killing separates the wheat from the chaff.

It will be better once there are incentives to kill new spawns, like the ability to butcher them and eat their meat.

So, in 15mins after your first spawn you learned what saline solution, morphine, sticks+bandages, blood bags, tetracycline, disinfectant, and painkillers all do? What about what the cryptic hunger/thirst/sick messages you keep receiving? Don't forget about learning the distance to zero your weapons so that you don't waste all your ammo. I'm going to go ahead and call bs. Dayz does take skill and there is a pretty steep learning curve, much like Demon/Dark Souls. And that learning curve will continue to get steeper as more content gets introduced.

Personally I don't care when people spawnkill or KoS me, because I take it as a lesson (avoid roads, zigzag when being shot at, etc). Just remember the golden rule of Dayz Alpha: don't get attached to your gear!

I disagree with OP. You should not have to metagame and research how to avoid being spawnkilled in any game. That's fucking bullshit.

I also don't think PvE only servers should exist, since the tension of not knowing whether to trust or not to trust another human being is part of the experience. Being robbed, getting into a stand-off with someone, stealing someone's gear. That's all part of the post-apocalyptic survival this game provides.

But killing fresh spawns at the beaches isn't a feature. That's just a handfull of people acting like cunts because they're on a powertrip and think ruining other people's fun somehow proves that their existence matters. But really, they're just internet tough guys, and the entire thing only proves how immature and pathetic they are.

this should be the splash screen in game...lol

nice post.

I would honestly cry and leave dayz forever if they ever tried making the game easier or holding our hands...dayz is dayz because of the freedom to do what you want. There shouldnt be honour systems or karma points or anything like that...

if you want to KOS have at er, if your 12 and want to cry every time you get KOS, have at er, or you could just try to get better and enjoy the game more.
