DayZ is the only multiplayer survivor game thing where you can't carry like 10 guns, WHICH IS FANTASTIC, lets keep it this way

Recommended Posts

Weapon carrying quantities are fine. This is not COD,for the love of God don't change it.

They wouldn't anyway, Dayz is about realism.

Please read my post above yours.

DayZ may be about realism, but it really doesn't follow it very well.

Yep I hear you, fella..

Weight is not in the game 'yet' but wouldn't surprise me if it became so.

Also, I'd say by your post that you're a gun enthusiast and would like to have 'all the options' and I appreciate that, I was brought up with guns myself. But unfortunately everything is going to have it's limitations. Like someone said in another post elsewhere you can actually kill the game with too many options.

I still think as far as realism goes this is the most 'near real' game I've played.

In that case, I agree with you - it's definitely one of the best games around for realism. Part of me would love to see things like weight added into the game - and part of me dreads it because I know that it would limit what I could do a lot... I do, however, think that there should be some way of carrying two larger guns though - at the expense of your melee weapon.

if you think 10 guns is a lot to carry you have no idea how many guns/bullets a person can hide on them with some basic storage gear(cargo pants/big jackets/bags)

I kinda have faith in Rocket & team NOT to turn DayZ SA into silly COD or whatnot.

If they introduce gunbag, for carrying 2nd rifle, then I hope it will have some tradeoff like not having space for axe or maybe it would replace normal backpack.

It's not only about realism, but also about keeping it "in spirit" of DayZ and force players into making hard choices (normal backpack or gunbag etc).

I completely agree with the point on sacrificing something for a second gun bag... But not a backpack. If I can carry a firemans axe somewhere, I can carry most guns there - so you have the choice of a second large gun or a melee weapon.

The only other thing I'd question is holsters. Really, you could put holsters over any item of clothing in DayZ - and have many more pistols (or sub machine guns and sawnoffs when their implemented.) I know that DayZ has a certain feel to it, but I don't like the fact that leg holsters and waist holsters don't even exist.

Talking about realism is in favor of carrying a lot of weapons btw. Most guns don't weight that much and you can carry a good bit with straps. Given a weight system would be nice because sure you can easily carry 2+ rifles, but it is a lot harder to carry 2+ LMGs for example.

If they do allow more than one weapon I hope it at least makes just a bit more noise when moving around and has the chance of making some very subtle, but potentially element-of-surprise ruining collision noises when the player model touches the environment.

Yeah I think they will implement either leg pistol holster or some kind of molle holster, which you can strap on tac vest or something.

Right now, you can't carry that many rifles on you in DayZ. So, when you encounter another rifle, you either switch it out for your current one or just leave it be. This is good! In other survival games, they have made it so guns are like any other fucking item and only take up one slot.

If I were to play Nether, or Rust, or any other survival game mmo thing out there other then DayZ, I could have ten rifles in my inventory. There is no reason to NOT leave a gun for someone else to take, when you can fit it into your backpack (somehow). The only guns you can carry tons of in DayZ are pistols, which is useful if you want to grab your friend a gun incase you meet up. Other then that, if you find 3 M4A1s in a camp, you can only really take 1. In the other games listed above, you can take all fucking 3.

Lets keep it this way- Its realistic and prevents people from taking every single gun they find, allowing other players to find weapons and have a chance against other players.

I agree!  We should be able to carry 11 guns!

Two in our hands, two on our back, three stuffed in our backside, and four in an alternate dimension caused by the extreme levels of methane gas that all the bean eating has caused.

Thats lovely way of carrying all of your beloved guns! :-D

Very pro of him not having even one rifle on his back, the one with strap I mean.

That choice should definitely remain in the hands of the player.  Keep your trusty axe around, that requires no ammo and can butcher legions of zombies?  Or sacrifice it to use those shotgun rounds you've been hoarding?

Plenty of risk vs reward here that is based on the players decision.  Not to mention a shotgun isn't exactly as stealthy as an axe.

I keep my axe in my bag. takes like 5 slots but it beats having a yellow red item on your back.

If you want realism I can think of multiple ways to be able to carry multiple ARs on my body with a backpack, especially presuming they have slings (how else do you carry it on your back?)

Yes its great that you can't just shove it in your backpack, but the idea that carrying only one M4 is realistic is ridiculous. It's a gameplay decision.

I'm not sure if anyone else follows this line of thinking but when I come across a rifle that I'm not using (like an M4 for instance) I actually disseminate the parts to it and basically make it useless to anyone who could pick it up with the intention of using it on me. More commonly, I'll take the buttstock and the sight (since so far I haven't been able to grab the grip) and then on my way out of the town I'll just drop them on the ground in the grass where no one would ever think to look (and anyone who does think to look after reading this, I wish you the best of luck).

As for pistols, since you can't take them apart if I have the inventory room I'll pick them up and do the same; just drop it somewhere random in the wilderness to spite anyone who might use it on me or others.

I like the way the game currently allows you to have one holstered gun and one in your hands. I hope it stays that way.
