TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 When I am directly at someone at a mediumish range and fire 5 shots directly aiming at them, they all seem to miss, and I cannot understand why? I am a battlefield player, still adjusting to DayZ, so i'm unaware if there is a reason that directly aiming at someone at medium distance causes misses lol? Any help would be appreciated. frosti 2165 Posted December 30, 2013 What weapon you use? Do you shoot right after sprinting?
TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 I use the M4A1, An no, I'll be waiting at one position not moving until I see movement, stand up and aim, wait a couple of seconds, fire 1-2 slow rounds then notice they dont hit for some reason and fire 3-5 fast shots which also miss directly aiming lol. I'm talking about the distance from around Electro School - Grocery store aswell.
Viperprime 0 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Cause this game has more real world aiming, you have to adjust for bullet drop. Also if you are using the m4 or mossie check your zeroing is correct for the distance. Edited December 30, 2013 by Viperprime

Second...thats short range.
TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) The weapon is fully pristine. Also, I thought it was short range, but obviously not considering it misses every damn shot at a range like that. Even If i had to compensate for bullet travel time, wind blowing, drop etc, at that distance it would make hardly any difference. It seems to go to the right, left or hit the floor behind them instead of hitting them, I really do not understand why at all. dallas 5195 Posted December 30, 2013 The bullet in DayZ is spawned from the chamber of the weapon and travels in a ballistic arc. This means what every time you fire your weapon, you can't automatically assume that the bullet is fired from the very center of your screen and hits whatever is in the very center of your screen. Whenever your fire your weapon in DayZ, you always have to adjust for sights and distance. If your sights clear an obstacle, but the chamber or muzzle is below that obstacle, you'll have a clear line of sight to your target, but not a clear shot. If your hands are shaking from exhaustion, if you're shooting while moving, if you didn't actually aim using your sights or didn't adjust or zero your sights, you might find that you miss shots in DayZ, you wouldn't miss in Battlefield. Viperprime 0 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) That also forgot to mention that if you iron sights are damaged that will effect your aim as well. Edited December 30, 2013 by Viperprime
Viperprime 0 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) But the biggest thing you have to remember is Dayz is a combat simulator not a cod, bf 4 fps the twitch aspect is not in play, you have to steady your shot and plan for player movement as well. TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 ^ I mentioned that my weapon is fully prestine. Also I understand that I have to make sure the barrel is below the scope etc and I have to make sure I have a fully clear shot, hence I stand up to make sure it's like I am completely in the open. Even sometimes when a guy is like meters in front of me and they are climbing a ladder, I spent around 25 shots for one not to hit the target. I am really unaware if this a game flaw or something I'm doing is wrong. But I am near certain I am doing nothing incorrect as sometimes it fires how it should, other times it does not. Basically if you need to zoom in to see well your target then most likely you not gonna hit it.I
dallas 5195 Posted December 30, 2013 Are you using sights or shooting in third person?

TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) I am using the sights, I never fire in 3rd person. Also I've told you the distance roughly, you do not need to 'zoom' in at all to be able to see them. ^Also, I'll give that a go I guess, I'll try find a new one. Is it possibly the stock I am using on it? I am using a CQB stock instead of a base, could that lower my accuracy / increase spread? dallas 5195 Posted December 30, 2013 Well the is always latency or lag. But as a general rule it's always good to pay attention to where your rounds impact around your target.
ratiasu@hotmail.co.jp 122 Posted December 30, 2013 What?! Guys, you all serious?OP: m4 has a very low accuracy value atm. It's been flagged as a bug. Use it with magpull and it should be a tad bit better. use it with a deployed bi-pod whilst prone and it'll hit human-sized targets at 500m.
TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Not to this level. Ah okay. I wont throw this away and find another. Just need to figure this out, I'll make my way to somewhere to find myself a new M4 and see if it makes a difference, or I may even switch to a mosin. ^ So the accuracy is a bug..? Merrick362 (DayZ) 263 Posted December 30, 2013 Your stance has a huge effect on accuracy, along with attachments. The CQB stock is generally terrible.

And good luck. :beans:

TheStevieJ 4 Posted December 30, 2013 Well I could be being a noob and have it zero'd high lol.. I do not even know how to zero, if someone could tell me how to check I'll see if I mistakenly set it.. but I doubt it.
