Trains And C4

Recommended Posts

A forum exists about this already, but it was a great idea so i decided to start another, but with the balancing addition of C4.

A train that ran along the existing train tracks would be great. It would start broken, and could be fixed with existing vehicle parts. This could act as a mobile base for players, while adding something to fight over.

C4 could be placed along the tracks, and detonated to damage the train. The C4 would have to be crafted from 2 or 3 parts as well, so that not everyone could have it on them. It would have to be fairly visible so that it isn't a surefire train explosion. If it was visible, the train could have a lookout, and they would have to call out to stop the train, and shoot the C4 to detonate it so that they can move on. This would lead to a train battle, where people try to take or defend the train.

Any suggestions or ideas would be great, and i hope the game dev's can add this sometime in the future. :D

Yeah...that sounds great.... but... I think that map needs more these things.... 'cos people would be only near the train .... my opinion

Like decent bases of operation, so military forts with few entrances? I was thinking Mobile homes or large vans also, with decent storage in each.

Your point was great. To keep people from rushing to the train, there needs to be other bases available.

The train, imo should be the fastest means of transport in order to make it still desirable.

I thought of this while playing, and would love it. There would need to be more things like this around the map though so everyone is not just around the train.

Well it would be a good idea if it only started with you have the locomotive, and them you would have to find the train cars to add too it. And maybe a train car just for cars.

Edit: 1

And you would be able to Customize each Train car with what you want to go in/on it.

What is the train running off?

( and who is even running it?)

The already existing fuel system?

And a train can really only go forward, so someone sitting inside with a 0-100% throddle?

Do you have and idea what it entails to fix, fuel, and drive a train? With the short span of track on Chernarus, it's completely impractical, and will only draw more people to the coast.

There are new tracks to the North, (I think).

Are they connected to the south? And regardless, you'd need 100's of km of track to make a train useful.

Mmmm either way, it would be cool to see a train.

Isn't C4 pretty expensive and hard to obtain unless you have certain contacts in the military? :D

And pertaining to the c4 well at most military bases they have armories that would hold such things so if there was a lock picking type animation with a special tool for the job then you would be able to get in

Yes, there are some pretty tight regulations for things like C4.

It could be replaced with another explosive that is easy to see, as long as it is hard to get.

Yeah, it's a great idea.... and I would like to see working train in DayZ :) I did some terrain researches. There are some vagons close to Balota, next to airport. They should be connected to locomotive... and locomotive is in Cherno..... hmm :) not so far

Yay once again another thought about destroying things rather than using things for the 99 other more peaceful purposes.

C4 is very stable and insensitive to most physical shocks. C4 cannot be detonated by a gunshot or by dropping it onto a hard surface. It does not explode when set on fire[3] or exposed to microwave radiation.[4] Detonation can only be initiated by a combination of extreme heat and a shockwave, such as when a detonator inserted into it is fired.

And OP try to do some homework before making suggestions...above is one reason. And don't play too much GTA...next come the idea of having to shoot the tank cover to detonate a vehicle US action film style with atomic fireball hand grenades and bullets sending people flying meters when hit.

Things like this have no place in DayZ. It is supposed to be a zombie survival, so no blowing a train up and C4 and more explosions and whatnot.
