Punch KO, one punch and I'm down

Well now I got sick of the game... I had a M4, A LOT of bullets, a pistol with A LOT of ammo, FOOD AND DRINK FOR DAYS, the BEST backpack in the game, Tac Vest, I had everything. Then a freshspawn comes and punches me in the face and BANG, I'm unconscious, and the guy takes EVERYTHING I had. I was even full on blood!

 

WHAT - THE - FUCK ???

 

I don't usually get angry because of games but holy shit, this was REEEALLY frustrating. You spend hours in a game just to get all that and a fresh spawn with nothing but his hands comes and kills you? I mean, what the fuck Dean? O.o

Don't hang around the coast being idle.

Point your gun at him.

Keep moving away to let him know you aren't interested in killing him.

When you feel you are at a good distance lower your gun, wave and run.

But, if you are in the open 2 secs from a spawn point not paying attention, not moving, you aren't safe.

Punching is "OP" at the moment, it's not realistic for every single punch to be a one-shot KO, our survivors aren't Mike Tyson. Either there should be a chance of knockout, not the certainty of it, or it should require more than one punch.

 

Even zombies seem to be able to take the hits better than players.

1-3 punches is a knockout I think.

I can happily say if you hit somebody standing still you could easily knock them out in one.

Probably in the temple though.

Gews have you ever been punched in the face by a fully grown adult? people die every weekend from 1 shot punches at bars and night clubs and these people are intoxicated and unable to judge distance or use full momentum etc a 1 shot K.O to the head it's by far not OP when you don't have any protection and the person is intending to put you down.

I think for the 1 punch knockout in the head, the DayZ team should add in Brass Knuckles so it would be more realistic knockout.

1 hit K.O is possible, sure, but you have to hit temple or jaw pretty well so that the opponent's brain gets hit against the skull. I don't find it realistic that 1-2 hits to the face causes knockout every time. It should be more random as said above. You could argue that it's the armed guy's fault for standing still, but there's no ducking/dodging mechanic for hand-to-hand fights ingame, so I think the next best thing is to randomize k.o. chance...

but also there's also the counter argument of why should an unarmed player not be able to legitimately defend himself against an armed aggressor? as if someone gets the drop on you and are within punching distance and you have a gun it's more likely the person with the gun is going to be at the disadvantage due to the clumsy nature of using a gun in cqc.

You were part of the knock out game. Also in real life it's not that far fetched that someone can be knocked out with one punch.

IRL an untrained gunman will try to use his gun instead of arms & legs.

Putting him at a disadvantage he doesn't need to be at.

Having no guard up IRL from a punch will often have you knocked out in 1.

Keep in mind boxers have gloves on and also have their guard up.

Bare knuckle boxing is extremely dangerous.

It's pretty funny how whenever someone raises the issue of firearms inaccuracy people go "Your character is a random survivor! not a spec-ops soldier!" but when a thread like this comes up people go "1 hit KO is perfectly fine, can you imagine getting punched by a professional fighter?".

Can you spot the contradiction? Perhaps some personal bias?

Punching to the head is OP given that getting shot in the leg doesn't make people fall down or pass out nearly as often, ballistic helmets also do nothing at all against punching while in reality a person is probably more likely to fracture his own knuckles by punching a helmet than rendering his target unconscious. Maybe in the future you'll truly be able to block melee attacks or strike back with your rifle butt, I also think that hitting a person with a longer melee weapon should push them away as in reality a person using his fists has incredibly poor odds at actually closing in on someone wielding a baseball bat (or using an M4 as a melee weapon, which is fully possible and quite painful).

Haha just rocked some clown swinging at me with a hatchet. typical fresh spawn gotta try and kill lol. I immediately lost them in a house by closing doors. hid in a bush and waited until the right moment and bam unconscious a couple moments later as i was trying to grab the hatchet off this low-life logged.

Thought for stopping combat loggers. Upon combat logging you immediately receive a warning stating what you just did was wrong. And maybe a 6-8 minute ban and all your precious gear that you worked so hard for gets dropped/scattered where you pussed out and ditched. Upon logging in you are warned again. If you do it again banned 10 mins and so on with an ever increasing ban/penalty each time you combat log.

 

The game is wicked cool. Glad to be a part of the S.A. (Sweet Alpha) har har har
