They are pretty ubiquitous, keep the rain off and double as a makeshift tent.There is a wide range of ponchos too. Super-shitty PVC yellow ponchos that people keep in emergency kits, to trashbags. Every military offers ponchos as issued gear, and they are usually nicer and more durable like the alpenflage ponchos. There are high end ponchos like the Kifaru Woobie or the Hill People Gear Mountain Serape, and the Smokin Kloke that have significant thermal properties.
