assassinofkings151 38 Posted December 27, 2013 So after fiddling around and having my fun with the DayZ mod over the past year, today I decided to shell out and buy the standalone due to the fact my friends previously brought it... So me and my friend kitted out quickly in Cherno thanks to a few fire stations and a round of the nearby houses, despite bumping into survivors, the KoS mentality I had seen before in the mod seemed non-existent here and me and my friend traded happily with a few people. Those we did come across who wanted to harm, did not do so mindlessly but rather made it more interesting, true banditry. Me and my friend seemingly made our way north to Nadezinho, restocking our supplies in the new settlements found in the standalone. Whilst the thirst mechanic did seem to be a bit too annoying, the constant thirst of my character being that of a whale, I thoroughly enjoyed the survival aspect DayZ SA had to offer. First Aid Kits and other essentials were hard to find but rewarding :) So after finding a couple of Mosin rifles but no ammo and a couple of axes me and my friend finally arrived at Nadezinho and decided to split raid the village to gather what we could. Whilst my friend was raiding he was confronted with a kitted out survivor who asked him to lay himself on the ground, fearing for my friends life, I backtracked round him and the supposed bandit and waited. I was not merely going to just kill this person, I liked seeing some bandit intuitive but once my friend exclaimed he was going to kill him well I just couldnt bear to see him executed before my own eyes... I charged and screamed down the mic the song of my people and charged him with the axe killing him a laugh echoed from his mic and a "you bastard!" I felt satisfied as me and my friend crouched there and rummaged through his highly valuable corpse, getting an m4a1 fully modded and some ammunition as well as some good clothing gear.However our victory was short lived as another, supposedly the bandits friend, shot my friend point blank and killed him. I ran in a frenzy behind the house and using third person waiting for him to surface from his slumber. After seeing the friend murderer cross towards me in his yellow raincoat i fired a few shots and heard him whimper in agony, however he was armed with a shotgun and with one blow of buckshot propelled me into the pitch black "you are dead" screen (a very nice feature that I actually like may I add) The point of this story is really to say just how awesome I think day z SA is going to become, i love the fact loot is rare, I do want to see more zombie spawns and I definitely want to see some work on the thirst and hunger mechanics in the game as well as a few cosmetics such as their bars being displayed, however I feel this is a great change of pace from the mod where you could easily find a weapon and supplies to start shooting bambi's from the hill of elektro. I didn't really get a clear look at the gun if i'm honest, but when I turned the corner at which he was running to me from, he had what looked like a double barrel or a rifle. And the spread of the shot he took indicated to me he most likely had a shotgun, I too have never seen it but there's a very slim chance he could have taken that precise a head shot hip-fired in reaction to me coming round the corner.
