BarryTheChopper 0 Posted June 22, 2012 I've read quite a bit on the forums and have been playing this mod since the bandit system was in place and has since been taken out. By far the MOST fun I had with this mod was with the bandit skin in place. Almost every single life I grouped with at least 1 other person, sometimes in groups of 5 or 6 and ended up traveling together for hours and enjoying the hell out of it.Sure in my travels I've met some survivors who had screwed me over, but hell it's bound to happen right? I've also met bandits who have shot me and even some bandits I have worked with for a bit (I was a survivor and we parted ways peacefully)The benefit of having this system was it allowed people who wanted to hunt players to do just that. However they had to live with the fact that as much as they like to kill others, since they are labeled as a bandit, they could very well be shot on sight just as quickly.I haven't seen any argument against the bandit system except for "it isn't realistic" which is a fair point, but this is also a video game and somethings are not included to keep it fun. You don't see Rocket making it so we have to shit and piss in game do you? I'm just curious to hear some opinions against the bandit system that was in place. Because this mod used to be shittons of fun and easy to group up with other players, now it's basically a PvP fest with some zombies thrown in.

Ninjutsu 1 Posted June 22, 2012 I've been playing for the last 4 nights so never played with bandit patches. I wish I had though. I trust no-one and it seems everyone (bar 1 person in 30hrs play +noobs) is ready to open fire without communication.I think the bandit skin would really create a good balance of 'goodies & baddies' and perhaps passive players like myself would have a better chance at talking it out with other nervous survivors.Until then I will trust absolutely nobody! (The increased heartbeat is a cool concept but I dont think it is very practical)

However if you chose you could trust a bandit and still have a good time as well.
dunnobe 3 Posted June 22, 2012 Bump.I do agree player killers need to be punish for their behaviour. Bringing back the bandit skin is a fantastic idea.BUTgive the bandits the possibility to find lootable survivor/civilian clothing, so they can disguise themselves.I used to be a bandit myself. I was down to -36K for killing other people, but found it lame. I went back to -18K untill they took the bandit skins away. (And yeah I did still kill a few in that time.)Don't tell me it's impossible to become a survivor again, it's definately possible if you don't kill everyone on sight. So we have a mechanic that either punishes bandits for their behaviour (they get shot for being bandts) and give them a reason to be a bandit (some love the skin). Now we need a mechanic to promote being a survivor and or deter them from being one. Having a skin they could find that is somewhat rare could be awesome.Do you have any suggestions on a mechanic to promote being a survivor? For me I loved being a survivor and the benefit was that I could somewhat easily group up with other survivors.

Slaughterbal 1 Posted June 23, 2012 On the survivor/bandit deter and motivation what about increased slots for specific things in your backpacks? Really bad (or good, however you wish to see it) Bandits get extra slots for ammo and military goods ONLY, because they use it so much. While really good survivors get extra slots in their packs for food and water, and other rations of that sort.
"Easy" Pete 0 Posted June 23, 2012 To be honest, the skins would be a lot better then the current heartbeat system. Except i'd rather let rocket take his time and think of the best way to intergrate some kind of system rather than just throwing darts on the wall. The Anti-Bandits Steam Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TAB-DayZ

wolfstriked 143 Posted June 23, 2012 I feel that the option to have bandit skins could very easily just be server side. Also,I posted that we should have military personnel running around trying to stop the infected so I feel a bandit skin should not be military looking. Kageru 18 Posted June 23, 2012 Bandit skin should be optional, a outfit to wear because you make it clear that you reject civilized behaviour and want people to fear you.But the idea behind it, of the reputation you gain when you mass murder innocents for fun, should be retained. My idea being that once you talk with other survivors or reach a survivor camp you are considered "informed" of the dangers. At that point you'll recognize any infamous bandit in some way, the normal being their name shows up in red once you are in ID range.

BarryTheChopper 0 Posted June 23, 2012 https://dev-heaven.net/issues/34465I created a feature request' date=' vote the idea up!!![/quote']I think that is an insanely good idea. I like the addition of a 3rd skin.I'm not exactly sure on those numbers that you posted but the general idea of having 3 skins is a very good one I think.
