Refunds

Hi,

 

Is it possible to gain a refund from the Standalone game? I bought the game yesterday. Didn't get to try it yet, I just need the money back at the moment for other purposes. Will purchase the game again in the future.

I believe we're not that into refunding, nor is Steam...

If you got it from Steam you would have to go through them.

I've got refunds for three games so far through them so I know for a fact they will refund, but that's usually if something is wrong with the game.

You can try through Steam. Not sure if your reason is good enough for them, but you could try i suppose.

Are you one them people who also buys clothes, wears them to a party then takes them back next day for a refund? lol :p

This is a steam related matter only.

 

It is very likely however, that they tell you they do not offer refunds in the product description.

 

Please contact steam directly

I guess it would depend on two things.

 

1) have you installed the game yet or just purchased it?

 

2) does the consumer law in America cover digital goods. For example, in Australia you can always get a refund as long as you haven't opened or damaged the goods in any way and you have proof of purchase. If the legislation supports digital refunds and Steam specify in their terms of service that they do not offer refunds it is irrelevant, legislation trumps store policy hombre. 

 

Returns on digital goods are always tricky for the reason of determining what constitutes you accepting/using the product.

 

I would recommend contacting steam support and mention the relevant consumer law (not in a dicky way), just to make it clear that you are aware of your rights as a consumer. Again, this is all if the US legislation covers digital returns.

Thanks for the answers. I haven't even tried the game yet at all and apparently need the money back due to financial reasons lol. I'll give steam a try. The only reason why I contacted here, is due to the fact that steam support FAQs stated to contact the developers of the game.
