creature 1189 Posted December 25, 2013 Welcome to DayZ! First, make sure you have little to nothing running in windows when you play DayZ as it's VERY CPU intensive. Have a look at this video. He explains what most of the settings do and which ones affect FPS the most. I'm running pretty close to the second setup with a few things tweaked to make it prettier.

mrlaxx 12 Posted December 26, 2013 Config-wise, these are the ones that helped me the most. My Documents/DayZ other Profiles/Username/Username.DayZProfile ->sceneComplexity=500000;shadowZDistance=50;viewDistance=1600;preferredObjectViewDistance=1000; Keep some settings higher to take load off your CPU, your GPU is more than decent enough (shadows etc on high), Object Detail on Normal (this one eats fps, but lower than Normal will go at a cost of visibility in cities etc.. windows don't render etc) Keep AA off, it causes inputlag and even slightly worse fps, even with the best GPU.. game just feels smoother. Most importantly, download CrystalDiskMark and check your harddrives speed.. port DayZ to your fastest Harddrive (it makes a huge difference, most people experiencing lag are running DayZ from a low quality Harddrive.. and DayZ is constantly reading files (in a bad optimized way) straight from your harddrive. Want more FPS? Go with an SSD.
