That is quite an impressive number that makes for a very Merry Christmas for all at BI.

My hope for the new year is that attention has been paid and resources will be allocated accordingly.

Happy holidays to all, and thank you truly to everyone concerned in the development of this incredible game. Rocket, I forgive you for killing me.

I can't wait when BI hires a massive team to support this on-going game, it's quite exciting.

* DayZ has a massive amount of potential and the community does see it.

The sales figures are publicly documented on the home page of this web site. 30x(number of survivors)

They deserve it. A bigger team will be awesome. The future is very bright for dayz.

-30% to Valve coffers.

(always sounds better when you quote the gross first)

They also sell it on Steam, which I heard has a 70/30 profit split deal, but don't quote me on that. With the 70/30 split, that would mean $9,646,031. That's still a lot of money, though, and I hope they put it towards growing their development team. Merry Christmas, everybody.

Steam has probably made the game more popular.

* Another title would be both "Path of Exile and Warframe".

Less than $10M after Steam's cut.

I'm absolutely thrilled at their success, and wish them all the best, but I also urge people to maintain perspective. You cannot "hire a massive team" with $9M.

Count the numbers of survivors.

I don't think that number is correct for some reason.  Seems strange to me that 460k people bought the game and at least created a character yet according to sites like SteamCharts, the highest amount of concurrent players has only gotten to about 44k.  I'm thinking that there is a bug in their survivor counter.

Time zones, I can not play at the same time as someone in the US for instance.

Still doesn't seem right especially if you compare something like Starbound.  It's all time concurrent amount of players is double that of DayZ.

16 Bit side scroller anyone with a computer built in the last 15 years can playthat is half the cost of DayZ we are not comparing apples to apples here.

Then multiply by 30.

They could even made more by the supporter packs.

Yeah, ^^ that's why I was asking if they had released some official figures because that doesn't seem to jive quite right.  Not that I don't want more players.  The more, the better.

I am fanatical about this game. That being said, I can only stomach playing it for a half hour at a time. The longer I live and the more loot I carry, the harder the decision to play becomes. I think a lot of players are this way. Given the nature of DayZ, I would never expect the level of concurrent players to reach the level of something like Call of Duty, or even Starbound! In Starbound, you lose nothing but money when you die.

I hope a portion of the profits go back into making this game properly and at a faster rate..

And not into the Pockets of BI Ceo's... That would make me so mad... Just so mad...

People say it costs a lot to make a game (True) But 13M plus gross and counting in one week..  We should all be expecting more not less ;)

I think that's an unfair logic.

Bohemia made the framework for the game, and opened it up for modders. They took a chance on hiring rocket and they have been and still are carrying the financial risk of the project. They deserve every penny they get from the sales, that ain't nothing to be mad about. That's how economy works. Pay dividends to those who deserve it and spread the retained earning on the projects best suited for future profits. Ain't no escaping that DayZ is a hot prospect, so I guess though our viewpoints differ, the result is the same. The DayZ team should see a buff in development resources. But BI and it's CEOs deserve more than their fair share as well!

Also inb4 "Hi, Marek".
