I am a cold-blooded murderer

Recommended Posts

Kill-on-sight is often discussed here on the forums, whether or not something should be done about it, etc. However, the vast majority of the threads started regarding this topic is by people who are angry about being murdered, think it is unfair and so forth.

There isn't a vocal enough response to this controversy from the people who choose to play as murderers. We are part of the game itself; an unrelenting force that must be dealt with to survive the same as zombies, illness and the environment itself. Without us, DayZ would not be the success that it is. A large number of people who buy and play the game do so because they are entitled to this strategy, if not encouraged. The developers know this and they will never change the system. If you hate murderers, go play another game.

I'm not just a bandit. While I do rely on banditry as almost my sole source of items and survival, I choose to murder as many denizens of Chernarus as possible because of the thrill it gives me, especially when I kill well-armed veterans armed only with a hatchet. This goes beyond mere kill-on-sight; I actively hunt and kill various targets depending on the thrill and risk involved. The more likely I am to be killed attempting to murder someone, the more likely I am to attempt to do it. The adrenaline rush you get when picking off a well-armed and coordinated group of people one by one with a hatchet is incredibly intense. This is what makes DayZ the best stealth game ever created.

I still kill freshly spawned players from time to time, but it is not very exciting or rewarding. Usually this happens when I am passing through a town for whatever reason and happen to see them, but I do not actively camp spawn points. I know some players do, and I do not think what they are doing is wrong, but I just don't enjoy it much at all.

Hope to see you in game.

Every game must have a villain or it just gets boring.

I understand your logic and where your coming from...but murdering bambis purely because they are there is going to bring a shit ton of grief your way...just saying.

The rest of your post is fine and is along the lines me and the clan i roll with plays, on the very rare occasion if we meet someone and we  "feel" thier of the same material we'll invite them into the fold.

True, and as much as I'm not a fan of KoS.. the game would be boring if there was no fear of being randomly shot. But my question is what do you get out of killing an unarmed fresh spawn? They have no gear so why kill them if they're not a threat?

I like to hunt people, also. I like to stalk and follow and take out folk quickly. I enjoy engaging in gun-fights, too.

I make a point of not killing people who do not pose a threat to me.

Because I can, and it is satisfying to bury an axe in someone's face or blown their brains out. I don't give a fuck about the people I am playing with. This is a "multiplayer" game but that does not mean you are obligated to make the other people enjoy the experience.

Most people think Marv is crazy. He just had the rotten luck of being born in the wrong century. He'd be right at home on some ancient battlefield swinging an axe into somebody's face. Or in a Roman arena, taking his sword to other gladiators like him.

Shooting bambis is bad form but I have no desire to see it stopped.

The crux of the KoS issue is that DayZ as a standalone and as a mod only has two in game activities: looting and shooting. Until there are more ways to interact with the game world those two activities will remain the main events.

The answer to Bambi's getting blasted while unarmed is simple: don't let the hunters of the most dangerous game see you!

You see fresh spawns carelessly rushing around for the first minutes or their life before they find something to kill with. Then they slow down and begin to play carefully. Ungeared players have nothing to lose and they project that sentiment to everyone around them.

The game is split basically into two stages for them. Stage one is to find a weapon to fight with. In this stage, the most important thing is speed. If you don't have a weapon in the first 15 minutes, you'll become bored and probably change servers. Sage two is kill other players and obtain better player killing weapons. That's it.

My policy on unarmed players? If he is sprinting around with no fear and no attempt at stealth or some form of self-preservation, I blast him. This is the guy that will pick up a weapon and come back for you.

It's the guys who actually try to hide from you or ask for your mercy that will do what it takes to survive. If you want to live you have to earn it. The idiot running around without any protection in the open is the one that deserves to die every time.

KOS should be teaching players to go to less populated areas if they want to loot in relative peace. Instead, they continue to run headlong into elektro, cherno, or balota and charge up the stairs into the military loot grind houses.

These 3 places are where 80% of the dying is happening on the map. If you don't want to get shot on sight, go somewhere else.

IN A 225sq/km MAP THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR GETTING SHOT IN ELEKTRO, CHERNO, OR BALOTA. DON'T GO IN THE KITCHEN IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THE HEAT!!!

Altough i hate bandits and KoS, players like him make this game BETTER for me! If everybody is just hugging each other and dance around under the rainbow sharing our beans than its not a threatening world. I like the rush of adrenaline when i cross open terrain, inspecting the edge of the forest before i go to the open, watch for snipers on highground before i enter a village or city, be cautious when i see other players and watch them from a distance avoiding contact instead of running to them shout "omg another survivor lets share food drinks and funny stories about our exes". Its a wolf's world out there, and bad guys are a part of it as well just like Zack or the hero type of players. We form the game, we form the community, you hate bandints? Good, hunt them in the game, don't flame them in the forum :) This guy choose this path to play, let him do it!

Tho Sigvatr, if I find you in the game, i will take you down..assuming you will do the same if i make a mistake and don't spot you in time :P

I see you walking around near me, I have no idea what you're carrying and what your intentions are. You may also have something I want, rather than play the 50/50 game of whether you're going to murder me, I'll do you first. Simples.

Yeah. Thrill of the kill and sense of danger is what drives me in DayZ. But on the other hand I need a challenge because easy kill in the back is good for loot but not much else. Your heart is not racing, you didn't actually beaten any odds and you not much better than any other player in the same situation. Anyone can pull the trigger. What I do like is intence fights, when you actually struggle and can die in any moment. And I'm often do :)

Anything esle... not much of interest for me. Not in DayZ. Because if I want to build a base - I'll go play Minecraft or SpaceEngineers. If I want epic loot - I'll play some RPG.

That being said I actually consider whom I kill and why I'm doing it. I want people to fight me, not run from me and never be seen again.

"Because I can..."

That is one of the many retarded phrases used in society today. There ARE reasons, you just haven't flushed them out yet in your brain or don't want to admit them or bother typing them etc.

I get the adrenaline rush bit, but I don't know why you say you get satisfaction out of blowing people away, even in a game. I guess you were not treated well in life thus far? Besides the odd asshole, the worst people have done to me is giving me a disappointing amount of disinterest, but i know that people do the best the can with what they have physically and mentally. Or you just realize fully at all times its just a game. There is that. But then are you as immersed as you can be?

Let your ego know that if i had been KOS'ing there would have been a wake of dead bandits behind me. Thats just one person, roleplaying a survivor.
