The #1 priority fix (my opinion)

Recommended Posts

Zombies running through everything should be the #1 priority.

I think with the following problem fixed, the game will really come together as a really playable game for the most part. Most every other bug is really minuscule and doesn't affect gameplay unless you get unlucky. This really is the most obvious and gameplay impacting bug.

I think they should put a pause on everything and get this fixed ASAP. I would love nothing more than to run into a house and shut the door behind me when a zombie is chasing me.

This will also be extremely refreshing for everyone that has also played the mod because we have been dealing with this for how long now? A very long time. No one notices it because we're used to it. Imagine the relief when its fixed. Wow.

Having played +10 hour sessions without encountering a single zombie, i would suggest waiting on optimizing them until they introduce more.

Falling off ladders and suddenly jumping off stairs are way more problematic for me

The reason for that is because you are in-game when the particular server you are on is 3 hours in without a restart. I bet you also dont' find any loot. If you've ever been in an server restart you'll see plenty. A small town like Kamenka has about 10. And for a fresh spawn, trying to loot that town = death. You run into a house for cover they come right behind you. You try to run further away you attract more zombies.

Besides, its not only about the danger. Its about the overall feel of the game. The game will definitely feel more solid. I know its just an alpha but still.

Zombies running through everything should be the #1 priority. I don't think it's #1. It's better than the mod from what few Z's I've dealt with indoors. Game breaking exploits and server issues are more important atm.

Imagine the relief when its fixed. Wow. This, yes.  :beans:  :beans:  :beans:

That's more of a learning curve I think. Accidentally proning on a roof and trying to superman off it makes for good times!  :D

The zeds no clipping through walls can be a pain. I am sure we will see it patched soon.

I really doubt it - game has beein in 'development' for more than year and they serve broken mechanics straight from arma II mod.

Don't know what they been doing for this whole time but clearly not much.

Theres bunch of other severe issues with the gameplay: falling of roofs, ladders, light from the flashlight shining through the walls....

Even small issues like volume of someone eating so loud i can heard them from miles away, overwhelming sounds of ocean and trees that make you hear nothing else.

I see the game HAS POTENTIAl but rocket and other people working on it are focusing on wrong things in my opoinion.

Why do you work on adding features if the most inportant ones are broken? Fix those and then add anything else.

EDIT:

Also, why not include all the features that were already in the arma II mod in the standalone?

For instance one of quite important - messages of server restarting in 10 min?

I'm really happy with new features like the tearing of Shirts into rags for example, but i agree, that it is really important for the developement to focus on fixing the things we allready have,

What is only clear is, that you dont know much about DayZ SA at all.

People you like should not have bought the SA now, rather half a year later.

I think the #1 fix should be the hideous mouse input (that's the first defect every player experiences).

As for the ghost zombies, I don't think that's a glitch. They likely disabled collisions for performance reasons, so they don't have to enable expensive pathfinding algorithms which could further bog down the servers.

you know this is ALPHA right? shit will get done, give it time, you didnt pay for the game to play it right now, you payed for the game to test it and give feedback.

There is no collision detection for Zombies according to Rocket, it'd be too computationally expensive. What they do is add path maps for every building, right now only a few buildings are configured.

And that is what im doing - leaving feedback. Its called constructive criticizm  - it should force people working on the game to take the fixing to the next level.

Do you imagine a car that doesnt drive used as a start point for newer car? And instead of fixing the not driving problem - the makers focusing on adding speakers, chrome handles, leather sits...?

Enlighten me then since you obviously know more.

Problem is not only with the game that uses thngs that didnt work in the mod but also with all the 'this is alpha' people that accept all.

Hell no. Hacks, glitches/exploits (server-hopping, bodies disappearing, things that shall-not-be-named) and loss of character-data should be priorities.

That's the basics. The rest is just features built on that foundation.

They worked on network bubble, something you just can't see, but was rather hard to implement and probably other "under the hood" functions.

So in my opinion, the problem are the people expecting alpha to be full retail version with everything pimped out. Had you spent a bit of time to investigate prior to buying SA, you would have known that buying alpha version is recipy for being dissapointed.

1. hacks

2. Zombies

3. Tents

Hacks would never be #1 you can spend all that time and money and 30 seconds later a hacker broke your patch and off hacking again.

Zeds Are low on my list.

Tents I don't think we will see tents till the end of the Alpha with Cars and Helis
