Photolysis 25 Posted December 21, 2013 So I just got into a firefight and barely survived. I took two hits from an M4 and went right to the verge of death, but I managed to escape and survive. Cool! What's not cool is that being hit twice somehow managed to destroy nearly every item in my possession, most of it in pristine condition. That level of damage is utterly ridiculous and beyond any stretch of realism. I fully support items taking damage to reduce the KOS mentality, but that level of damage is insane. Did that bullet play pinball with everything I had? Needs toning down I think. Or a better means of modelling damage.
Gth 18 Posted December 21, 2013 Agreed. Without a more realistic damage model (if you get shot in the legs, nothing in your backpack should be damaged) they should tone down the damage rate a bit. Either that, or give items more unique health values relative to what they are. IE, a tactical shirt should take more damage then a bambi t-shirt for instance. strngplyr 26 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) I actually agree with this. I've been shot in the leg and had nearly every item in my backpack destroyed. Pretty flawed system at the moment. I HOPE this is just an alpha issue and they can find a way to localize the bullet damage, I don't know if its possible for the system to say "shirt slots 1-2 = upper left chest, 3-4 = upper right chest" "vest slots 1-8 = abdomen" "Pants slots 1-2 = thighs (pockets), slots 3-4 = knee (cargo pockets)". but something like this would be fantastic if the system is capable of recognizing "zones" that way. Bocui 13 Posted December 21, 2013 This is true, but I would get shot in the Mod, and just bleed to death. The blood system seems to be better in SA though
daze23 549 Posted December 21, 2013 I like the system, but like much in the game, it needs some tweeking
Guest Posted December 21, 2013 Pretty confident it'll just be an Alpha issue. In one of the videos demonstrating the game it was said that the damage would be local to where you were hit. I do agree it's pretty ridiculous a the moment though.
BioHazard050 49 Posted December 21, 2013 Agreed, I got shot in the crotch (yeap. Crotch 0.o') and my backpack and everything in it got wrecked
LouisK 85 Posted December 21, 2013 (edited) I was axe'd by my brother accidentally. My backpack, vest and shirt were completely ruined with one single hit, along with everything inside it. I don't understand how an axe swing could fully penetrate my backpack, ruin everything inside of it (35 items), penetrate the vest and the shirt, ruin everything inside of it (considering the axe hits in one place, not all of the pockets), and yet it didn't damage me THAT much. The system is on the right way as it's incredibly awesome, and will be completely awesome once it's finished. Also the damage location IS realistic and taken in consideration. My brother was also axed in the feet and didn't get anything damaged apart from his boots. I've shot several times someone in the legs and all their gear in the other regions of the body was in perfect condition. BioHazard050 49 Posted December 21, 2013 It could be an aspect of server stabilty and lag as well.

OfficerRaymond 2064 Posted December 21, 2013 It's an alpha at the current moment and many things need to be refined. I agree, getting shot in the chest (if you live) shouldn't destroy things in your pants and vice-versa.
