Server Hopping, DayZ Top Experience Ruining Factor.

That can be limiting, what if a server is lagging or i wanted to switch to my friend's server and vice versa?

Waiting a little bit when changing servers isn't such a big deal, unless you want to hop constantly.

I'm saying for a legit server switch you wouldn't notice, and even when you push it there would be a short delay with a warning message telling you not to hop any more for a while. But, If you continued, the punishments would get longer and longer. Maybe even force the player to be spawned in the world for the duration of the delay. Players hopping in high value loot areas would risk death while wasting their time. While honest players switch servers in more secure areas, so even if you get a short warning or have to take a punishment one time, it's not so risky.

Hate server hoppers myself. Friend and I were playing on a night server earlier having a blast with the increased tension moving from south of the NW AF to the prison just north of the NWAF, then continuing over to Berezino and the ship. All the mil spawns had been looted that we ran across. WE kept an eye out of the players on the server. Usually no more than 5-6 at most due to it being almost pitch black.

Saw what seemed to be a lot of server hoppers given that a number of times we saw what were flashlights at the mil spawns then nothing. No one was there. No one left the area. Its already getting bad and is taking the fun out of traveling around the map to various spawn areas looking for good gear.

Think I'll just start camping those areas on night servers. Bag me some hoppers and get my upgraded loot that way :)

Server hopping is the only way to go at the moment with loot not respawning on its own. That's the only way you're going to get loot period. Not a fan of hopping but there is a risk, your character will sometimes reset.

Which is why I've gone through two M4s and two Mosins and continuously find gear. It's not because I go to the places less traveled and look in every car I go by...nah! It's because I sit there and hop servers because "it's the only way".

I like that loot doesn't just respawn anymore, people server hop even if it does. If server hopping is dealt with it will make the game much more enjoyable for those out to survive and scavenge.

It's not even hard to get gear at the moment, people are simply lazy.

They need to get something done, that's for sure. I'm sure if they try they can figure it out. I'd be happy if it was 1 character per server to be honest but most people think that's crazy...

I am not assuming anything, i am just amazed how everyone find plenty of ammo when it's not all over the place and i can't think of anything other than hopping and looting barracks on other servers.

Currently loot spawns once and doesn't respawn, so if you can rush to high value looting areas after a server restart all the gear's there.

What about loosing connection, being kicked, crashing, accidentally leaving or joining a bad server. Stupid things like these would ruin the game for people with a fix like that.

that wont hurt you. if you lose connection, you are still connected to the same server. if you are kicked, you wont join a new one to be instantly kicked. if you join a bad server, you wont be joining a bad server however many times in a short period.

none of these things will get you reset. I am sure they have looked at this extensively to begin with.

ontop of that, I also read about there being a pattern to be noticed. server hoppers follow a pattern, looot, hop, loot same buildings, hop, loot same buildings. these things will be easy to notice. and easy to determine a legitimate switch versus loot hopping

Tbh.. I find that people server hopping is ruining the game for them self. I personally hate people server hopping, but I don't get why people are doing it.

Sure you get military grade gear much faster. Now you're fully geared, what now?

The real question with this server hopping is....How the hell do they expect to implement the base building and all that they talked up if you can server hop into someones base? Whats the point of barbed wirre etc if I can just  log out, move forward an inch and log back to other server, in base.

Annoying.

log into populated server

If the devs could prevent server hopping, and combat logging, there would be no need for private hives.

As somebody previously said, private hives may stop it, but they will take away anything too hard or anything non-pvp.

edit: I had somebody log on me earlier the little cunt. He shot and missed me point blank with an m4 so I ran around the building and waited by the door for him to come out. He crouches out with the pistol and shwack, I strike him with the crowbar 3 times then he starts running. bleeding like a motherfucker. I chase him. He stops. I wack. He disappears.
