DevilDog (DayZ) 455 Posted December 28, 2013 Not sure why people are upset about this post, there really is not a list around (that I have seen) that says what is working and what is not right now. Good thread IMO. I have gotten the pot attached to the stove, but could not put water or canned food or rice in it to cook. That part is not in game from what I hear. I did leave the pot on the burner for others to see haha. Sticks and RAGS are used to make splints. This does work. Splints take up 3 slots horizontally. (I have not broken my leg, but I hear morphine like ModZ heals it too). I have not seen any revolvers yet, but the ammo is there. Bipod works when prone to help aim. I have tried the paper and pen thing but it never works. If it does some one needs to say how (seeing a note does not mean anything).

DemonGroover 8836 Posted December 28, 2013 There are a lot of items currently in game which aren't useable just yet - they are yet to be config-ed or other items to be used in conjunction aren't in game.

dulix11 731 Posted December 28, 2013 (edited) Can someone post how many slots the M4 takes? Can you fit it into a backpack? I've tried dismantling it until there is only 1 item left but it still doesn't fit. Edited December 28, 2013 by dulix11
duddbudda 33 Posted December 28, 2013 rifles cannot be fully dismantled or put into packs yet gun bags are coming, eventually, and the ability to place rifles in other containers will probably come with them

Etherimp 1323 Posted December 28, 2013 Disinfectant Spray can be used to clean your wounds and disinfect your clothing/bandages. Cleaning your wounds actually has a purpose.
Etherimp 1323 Posted December 28, 2013 I believe tkso shirts are only 6 slots? I've tried putting filled pants in my backpack and it won't let me. I'll test it more vigorously but I don't think storageception works anymore.I'll test charcoal tabs more but from my initial tests they create more of a negative effect if anything. I strongly believe disinfect sprays does not currently work in the game, aside from making players sick. I wonder if you can force feed disinfect spray? :) . Alcohol bottle seems to work okay, ;but be wary of antibiotics. On mulitple occasions they've made my character sick when they weren't and sicker when they were. You're misinterpretting the messages you receive from alcohol/charcoal. I will give you a rundown of what happened to me... -I had "Healthy" status, which is attainable by getting fed/hydrated, which will then allow you to regenerate health. -I got hit by a few zombies, and my "healthy" stat disappeared. This was my first indication that I was, indeed, sick. -I used alcohol to "wipe wounds", and then I got the indication that I was "sick" in my character tab. -After a while, the game kept telling me "My wounds look cleaner". It did this approximately 4-6 times. -Eventually, the game told me "My wounds are fully cleaned." -I ate 2-3 more times, and drank 2-3 more times, and I got the "Healing" stat back, which then turned into "Healthy" after a while. Basically, alcohol, charcoal tabs, and antibiotics do not INSTANTLY cure sickness. It's a process. Those remedies only stop the progression of the sickness, and then the sickness begins working backwards through stages. After it reaches the least threatening stage, it eventually wears off if you have not died.Taken from the Dayzdb guide: Zombies have a 20% chance to give you an infected wound when they damage you. This infection is pretty dangerous, so cleaning your wounds with an alcohol tincture is important. The CureClean your wounds with an alcohol tincture, or consuming tetracycline antibiotics. Stage One Symptoms "My wounds are itchy" "I have itchy wounds" Effects -13.6% Water/sec Status text sick Stage Two Symptoms "My wounds are infected" "I have infected wounds" Effects -16.9% Water/sec, -0.3% Blood/sec, -0.1% Health/sec Status text sick Stage Three Symptoms "My wounds are seriously infected" "I have seriously infected wounds" "I'm feeling hot""It's really warm" Effects -19.5% Water/sec, -0.1% Blood/sec, -0.3% Health/sec Status text sick Stage Four Symptoms "My wounds hurt less" "My wounds look cleaner" Effects -16.9% Water/sec Status text sick If you notice, the infection causes you to lose water in stage 1 and 4, and health/blood in stages 2-3.. You can stop the sickness from getting worse at any stage by treating your wounds. Once treated, you will still continue to undergo the negative effects of the infection (which means losing hydration/blood/health etc), which can cause you to die or go unconscious (and die). In order to control this, treat your wounds/sickness immediately, then hydrate yourself until the sickness wears off.

In three separate instances I had healthy status and decided to try each of the following: Charcoal tabs, Antibiotics and pain reliever. In each case they gave my character sick status, even though I had not previously been damaged for a long while. I took these items to see if they would cause any affect when completely healthy and was surprised that they would actually cause sickness. In one instance I became sick (In brown) and took some antibiotics. The first time I took it it brought my sickness into the yellow stage. I took it multiple times afterwards and it had no apparent effect. It appeared that I lost sickness (In yellow) with time spent alive and eating/drinking. Disinfectant Spray can be used to clean your wounds and disinfect your clothing/bandages. Cleaning your wounds actually has a purpose. I believe it does have a purpose as well I just don't think it's actually functioning correctly at the moment. I would appreciate testable evidence to support it's working correctly if anyone can share. I have never gotten sick from applying bandages or clothing to myself. The only thing that has made me sick is rotten fruit and items that are supposed to prevent and treat sickness.

Okay if that is true then why would I have healthy status if I am sick and why would I not have any notification that I am sick? I had not received any bottom left of screen text indicators prior to taking those items, they simply made me sick. Until there is actual evidence to the contrary I would suggest people avoid those items unless they already have the "sick" status in their inventory. If you are healthy, why would you take Anti's/charcoal? It's possible that the healing items simply set your health status to the final stage of whatever sickness, and then work themselves out from there, in which case you're right and it would be a bug. That hasn't been my experience though.

That hasn't been my experience though. Because it is an alpha and we are here to test it. It also proves that the items are not working correctly. Heres one..Drinking alcohol tincture definitely makes you sick... Nothing but time and rest seems to cure it. Lol dam misclick... I was just testing this. I didn't have healthy status in inventory but from what I could tell I was quite close. I was full of drink and food and I first clicked the alcohol tincture to apply to wounds, which got me sick. Afterwards I drank it. It ran my blood completely out to where I went unconscious and died. Honestly, to people who do not want to test the game I'd advise not using any of the medical items aside from bandages and rags. Sickerthansars 53 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) @OP You can use disinfectant spray on bandaged before applying them, supposedly helps prevent sickness but not confirmed, you can also use it on foods etc to posion them should someone rob you they end up getting a nasty surprise. Charcoal tabs help if you get poisioned/eat bad food after eating rotten oranges got the "my mouth tastes funny" which is a sign your sick from eating bad food/water. Took the tabs and the status message went away. Supposedly you can make a improvised backpack with rope and burlap sack have never tested it the stove makes a nice light source if you're in a building away from people I read somewhere you needed a stone, wood, and matches to make a campfire I havent personally tested that either though but you will want to update your list regardless. If you've ever had to actually eat a charcoal tablet they are disgusting and make you feel miserable for a bit and a lot of antiboitcs make you "sick" since you know they do kill a lot of good bacteria etc in your body as well as the bad bugs that make you sick to begin with. It would make sense to get some sort of temporary "debuff" when using those items since they have for me anyway cured my other illness. IE getting shot and taking antibotics will get you a message "my wounds look cleaner" taking the charc tabs will get rid of the "my mouth tastes funny" sickness debuffs. Ive also had success eating charc tabs getting rid of the "sick" status after purposely ingesting alcohol/disinfectant Edited December 30, 2013 by Sickerthansars
Someday 0 Posted December 30, 2013 The Alcohol do work. You clean your wounds and it make you feel sick for a while but the sick status go away by itself and then a message pops up telling that your wounds are clean. Not sure if that makes a difference on blood status or whatsoever. The other meds work properly I think. But you can't use them without a condiction or they would make you sick. Like in real life you know. m4 bayonet works as can opener. The mosin's one doesn't work at all. The only thing you can do is attach it to the weapon and it clips through the ground while crouched because of the longitude and the stance of the rifle. touffe 3 Posted December 30, 2013 Do you guys know how many bandages/rags it takes to make a splint? Also is it just one wooden stick? I only tried it using bandages found in first aid kits. It consumed 50% of one piece of bandage (bandaging wounds consumes 25%). Don't know how many rags it takes or wether it works with one individual bandage (the one that looks like the old bandages seen in the mod).
