carbine781 (DayZ) 131 Posted December 20, 2013 Hi guys. If any dev sees this, I have a quick question: Can we expect more optimization to be done, and if so, how much of a performance increase are you guys expecting when all the optimization is done? Hopefully, the game will get optimized a lot more. I was able to run Arma 2 OA on single player and on some multiplayer servers (Domination, Takistan Life Revolution, DayZ sometimes) with 'high/very high' settings. At the moment in DayZ, I'm running on 100% resolution, but everything else is on low/very low/disabled. I have also edited some of the file settings a bit. When roaming the coast, i get around ~30 FPS. In Elektro and the 2 cities north of Cherno, it drops below 15 sometimes, and averages around 19. Oddly enough, in the heart of Cherno (In the town square with the plane wreck), My FPS is around ~28 instead of 15. It seems that Cherno is better optimized then before. Keep up the good work. The map looks really great... I just want the ability to run it! :P Specs:Nvidia Geforce GT 650m, 1024 MBIntel HD Graphics 4000 (I run a bootcamped Mac, yes i know, please don't give me crap for it)2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Processor8GB Ram
kevsta545 451 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) Yeah of course there will be. I get stutters on my pc that has a i7 4770k clocked to 5.0 ghz with a gtx 780 :D. Alpher my man, it will come in time... Young padawong.. Edited December 20, 2013 by Kevsta545
Sputter 12 Posted December 20, 2013 Thats sounds kinda odd to me because I feel this is more optimized compared to the mod/arma2 has ever been. Feels very smooth for the most part so far.
creature 1189 Posted December 20, 2013 There's a lot to do before they worry too much about optimizing. Patience, we need.

muggerfugger (DayZ) 35 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) lol :P really? runs smooth for me on all high settings. i7 4770k no oc, and 770 4gb. FPS drops in city, but nothing major and nothing i'd consider stuttering Edited December 20, 2013 by muggerfugger

I run the standalone on low as well, 100% res (a luxury untill now) and it feels smooth.May be because of the nerfed zombie spawns though :/I know that zed bodies would lag the server in the mod

I've seen people quote the RAM figures reported by OS X which won't be correct if you're running 32 bit windows.I used to very occasionally fire up the Mod on my 2011 MacBook Pro which has the exact same spec apart from mine has an SSD.Just about playable on a lightly loaded server on Low/Med settings. The main problem I noticed was everything slowing down after 30 minutes as thermal throttling cuts in on both CPU and GPU as the MacBook's cooling solution was never designed for gaming.Maybe the client-side optimisation promised will help, but you're already fighting a losing battle having a 2.3 GHz CPU and mobile GPU. Frell 80 Posted December 21, 2013 The Arma engine is terrible and needs to be rewritten. Arma 3 went from alpha to release with no performance increase despite all the complaints. Don't be surprised if the fps you see now is the same as final build. Arma has a terrible history with performance.

However, i think the devs will work more on optimization, as people with high end graphics cards are struggling.
