Mycaelis 12 Posted December 19, 2013 I've got the Standalone on Steam and I play with a lot of my friends (usually run around in a very large group of players). In the original Arma2 mod, I had two copies of Operation Arrow head, this allowed me to change CD'keys in the flash of the hat and swap characters. I usually did this to have two characters, one in which I played with my friends, moving with the group, the other for me to play on my own when the group wasn't playing. Is there currently a way to have two copies of DayZ Standalone via steam? If not, will it be something that can be looked into?I'd rather not go through the hassle of managing multiple steam accounts just for DayZ. Given the price, I probably won't, but hey, you never know, I might win the lottery and have some spare money to burn... Thoughts? Cheers,Mycaelis.
Korsbaek 1778 Posted December 19, 2013 Can't you buy it from BI's webstore without adding it to Steam?
Little8020 14 Posted December 19, 2013 You could always use a second steam account, not sure if it would work though

Don't think it's possible. Actively using two different characters to give yourself an advantage is frowned upon anyway. forddefect 14 Posted December 19, 2013 Having other characters for the purpose the OP states is something I would be interested in. But I can't see how you could do that without some people taking advantage. Maybe disallow different chars to connect to same servers. But that doesn't stop you giving a friend stuff have them change servers to your other character. Mind you for an extra £20 pounds I could do that anyways and in the grand scheme of things that's not much of a barrier if you really wanted a 2nd character. kevinwebb94@gmail.com 12 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) I believe you have to have steam in order to play the game according to Rocket. So you would have to have a second steam account to log into it I believe. And about people saying this is frowned upon, I think its no big deal, as long as he isn't a hack. Plus, the team will get more money to make a better game XD EDIT: Perhaps if you started DayZ through an .exe instead of through steam, you could simply swap out the key in the registry between each boot up of DayZ. 420jeppe 28 Posted December 19, 2013 I just wondered this myself. However, I would use one account for my play guy, and another account for another char just to use as a bank. Which probably would ruin my own experience somewhat. I could get all the spare guns from my friends and keep them totally safe, thus negating my ever needing a tent or whatever. So it's probably best if I didn't have that possibility. At least not easily. :)
