Please Dean let everyone settle in before you make changes!

Recommended Posts

I hated it at first, that was just my reaction because it was different to the mod and I didn't quite get it. However after playing for several hours, I get the UI now, I get how often you have to drink/eat and I get things like where I have to go for loot.

While not all the systems are great, I do not think any changes should be made just yet. People are still getting used to the game and there is nothing worse than making rash changes based on first opinions. I mean the Unconscious thing is something that happened to me once and never again. It's pretty easy to just eat and drink when told, I don't think having UI indicators is really a great change either. Playing Breaking Point, when your stomach rumbles, you're hungry and the more it rumbles, the more urgent you need to eat, the same goes for being out of breathe and needing water. I much prefer that, it feels way more natural than half arsing a UI indicator like what the mod had..

Not finding loot? Well travel around the map more, I'm finding tons of loot by just travelling to places I wouldn't normally go. I think the spawn system doesn't help as most people spawn in the south, however I think we can all help by spreading out, I don't think spawn rates need to increase. I think there is too much loot when it comes to certain types like weapons such as the M4 or the masks, they're everywhere and they're too common now.

I've really settled down into the game now and I'm loving it.

I personally think there are better things to focus on...

- Allowing us to easily see what server we're on once we're in game, or just being able to invite friends via Steam.

- Fixing Zombie A.I

- Fixing the horrible melee system

- Vehicles

etc etc.

You can invite friends via steam.

The others are major changes that could break the whole system, work on some of these continues in parallel to the bugfixing - but overall the most important thing is to fix the bugs and issues we have now before we make a bunch of new things that introduce even more bugs. Bugs on top of bugs can result in you completely having to rewrite something and can derail entire IT projects.

I'd say fix day/night time scheduel and the loot respawns first.

loot isn't supposed to respawn, once the server restart its stay like that until next.

I've been walking for many hours now, and I'm always dying of dehydration due to how rare the drinks seems to be... only place I find them is in super markets, and even then there might not be any. And super markets don't grow on trees either.

I might just be super unlucky, but still... even when I found 2 drinks and drank them both and got 'Your thirst has been quenched' or whatever it says, literally 5 seconds later I got 'You're thirsty'. Didn't I just get a message saying I drank enough? Well, I kinda went off topic and obviously still haven't gotten the food/drink system, but the point is they seem to be really rare.

However I finally found a canteen before logging off so I should just need wells now.

Oh, nothing shows up for me when I try to invite my friends from the Steam chat :( I ended up trying to copy and paste the IP, that wouldn't work either. An other time I was in the game and I forgot what the server was called and I just couldn't find any way to bring up the server info.

I know those are big changes and I know bugs need fixing, I just don't think changes to systems that have just been put in place need fixing right now. Lots of people complain because it is different or because it is hard or inconvenient, I don't see any of those good reasons. Do I think the chat system is great for telling you that you need to eat or drink? No, but  I don't think a UI indicator is good either. Something as simple as what Breaking Point does would be a far better option. There is a lot wrong there, but quick bad solutions isn't great, especially if it makes things worse.

I used to play Star Wars Galaxies back in beta and when it launched, I loved what that game was doing, sadly it seemed like no one else did. There were just crazy rash decisions made due to forum whining and the game became more and more dumbed down as a result. They kept just putting in quick "fixes" in and they ended up becoming the norm, in the end they got lost in a sea of quick fixes and it became such a mess.

I just never want to see the demise of another online game again, especially when we have no control over the servers. World of Warcraft was ruined, EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside and maybe a few others I cannot remember, just all based on making changes due to initial player feedback.

An online game is a living thing, it needs to be treated as a world with a proper ecosystem, where one change has a knock on effect. This wasn't a big deal with the mod because everyone just hosted their own servers and could do what they wanted. With the SA though, it's different and I don't want to be driven away by stupid changes like a load of other games. I think CCP are the only ones to every get it right with EVE Online, they've treated that game like a world, if something doesn't work, they swallow their pride and they roll back, I've never see any other developer do that.

Any ways, I love the game, I'm jut so jaded from past experiences lol. It's not fun to invest hundreds of pounds, thousands of hours and then be driven away :| FUCK YOU SOE!

Are you looking under beds and things? I find that I was so used to looking at spots on the floor, I was missing loads of loot that was hidden or even on shelves. I've ran all across the map, I've found like 5/6 bottles, 3 canteens and 20 odd cans of pop. I've found the canteens and bottles to last a long time, the cans are just throw away, don't last very long, but I've been popping them every 15 mins or so of heavy running and been fine. Each time I pass a pond or house, I look for a water source and check for food. Canned food lasts for ages, all other types doesn't really do all that much, like the cans of pop, you eat the rest of the stuff once and throw it away.

Maybe I'm just spending way more time searching for this stuff that other people and that isn't fun for most.
