Character control is awful just like arma 2 movement

Recommended Posts

Standalone character movement is no different from MOD!

My character moves same as arma 2 dayz mod

character movement in arma 3 is great!

character movement in arma 3 breaking point ALPHA mod great!

character movement in dayz standalone ALPHA very bad! its like controlling a character from 5 years ago!! (about when arma 2 was release)

Are they updating this ALPHA to arma 3 movement? Its said that from now till beta will be 1 year! If this character movement stays game will be massive fail!

How would it be bad and outdated? I'm quite happy with it so far.

Make sure it's not your mousesettings.

I have to agree. The movement feels wonky and almost as a step backwards after enjoying Arma3.

It seems like there were many aspects that could have/should have been implimented from Arma3 to make SA more amazing. Night time lighting would be great, the SA(arma2) lighting is horrible and NOT up to modern standards. I am sure that Bohemia will kick themselves in the ass later.

Hopefully, things will develop and Rocket can sort it out. #havingfaith

I completely disagree the movement isn't on the same level as the mod. Believe I hated the mod for how clunky it was. The only time it starts to deteriorate is when my FPS drops or I'm going through a doorway.

Nah it is better than the mod, doesn't feel as good as Arma 3 though.

Also rocks and things can still break your legs which is another thing they fixed in Arma 3.

I'm really hoping they bring the improved vehicle physics from 3 at least.

its not my mouse settings nor is it HDR settings ! I have a bad feeling its dayz engine!

Arma 3 movement is much better

in this alpha dayz I feel like im moving a robot around compared to arma 3

Can they? do they do engine upgrades to ALPHA games? because 1 year till beta with this movement is fail and then another x amount of time till full launch with this character movement on full game

The controls are very good if you set them yourself.

I personally set them just like I had them in the mod and it works perfectly.

Set the toolbar items to num 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0 and use my mouse for them.

Don't see what's the matter.

Not talking about setting up controls mate!

talking about character movement the dayz engine feels just like arma 2 and that's awful

if you have ever played arma 3 you will know what I talking about

I was at least expecting dayz alpha to have the same character movement as arma 3 engine

DayZ is using Take On Helicopters as a base, loosely known as ArmA 2.5 in some quarters, so it shouldn't really come as a stunning surprise that it may be rather like the mod in some respects.

A lot of people are used to it so they won't agree, but I do see what you are talking about.

The movement is clunky, clumsy, and feels extremely heavy. If I am pressing D, I'm moving side wards but only really have 50% of the control when moving around - it's hard to explain but we all know what I am talking about, and it is the number 1 reason anyone wouldn't want to play DayZ.

When you ask a friend that doesn't like the game or is put off by it, chances are very high that they will say "it feels too clunky"

I never expected this to change really.  It's still essentially running on an older engine that is basically ARMA2.  It does look like they added in the vault movement, which I think is great, but it's ARMA, it's always gonna be kinda clunky.  Through the development, perhaps we'll see some smaller changes added in, perhaps borrowing stuff from what they did in ARMA3 if possible.  This is still Alpha, everything is subject to change.

i definitely expected it to change, movement in arma 2 dayz mod was awful one would of thought that the standalone would have arma 3 movement! its made by the same company + the full release of dayz is maybe 1 and half years away! there is no way a 2015+ game can have this character movement

The poster worrun is on the same page as me he knows what i'm talking about!

The movement is clunky, clumsy, and feels extremely heavy. just like arma 2 dayz mod

2013 we have arma 3 great character movement

2015+ we have full version of dayz standalone with this awful character movement!  (just can't happen)

both games made by same company!

After playing some arma 3 and arma 3 breaking point mod......  this out of date dayz engine is a huge let down so far

This dayz alpha would have to have a upgrade to arma 3 engine+ befor full release? or can character movement be sorted with out a engine upgrade?
