Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Recommended Posts

The 2gb is dedicated but the 650m is a poor GPU. Use fraps to see fps, turn all settings to low and slowly increase and tinker you be surprised what you could get out of it.

Why is everyone badmouthing the 650? It's enough to play the game, just not at ultrasuperduper settings.

At this moment in time I have a Samsung RC512 laptop. I'm getting a new desktop soon to replace my old one so I was just wondering if it would be worth it to buy the game now and play on my laptop until I get my desktop or just wait to buy it until i get my desktop. I've heard a lot about the poor optimization for it, low fps and massive lag spikes so I'm a bit worried about buying it now. Anyways here's my computer specs, I was hoping some of you might have an educated opinion on how well my computer can run it and about how many FPS I would get. Thanks.

Desktop

Monitor resolution: 1920x1080

CPU: AMD A10-6800K 4 core

Graphics card: AMD Radeon HD8670D

RAM: 8gb

SSD? Yes

Someone one the first page had the same gfx card and was told he'd probably get a bad framerate. Would I be able to play the game with this setup? I don't need the best graphics per sé, as long as I could play without lag I'd be happy. Much thanks

That'll be the 7670M (mobile) GPU then.

I'll give out my standard laptop response : If you don't have a high-end laptop built for gaming, running DayZ isn't going to be a fun experience.

Yeah, sorry, forgot the M. I know it won't be fun but can I at least play it in its lowest settings? :/

For those of you wondering, if DayZ runs on weaker Laptop's / Desktop's i have tested it on my pretty Ultrabook:

Desktop or laptop? Laptop

Monitor resolution: 1366x768 (native)

CPU: Intel Core i3-3217u (1,8Ghz)

Graphics card: Intel HD4000

RAM: 4GB

SSD? Both tested

If you turn down the resolution to 1280x720 and use a few fps tweaks, you can play this game with 40-60fps countryside and a decent 15-20fps in big cities. You could go even lower than that to improve it more. Sure it won't look that nice (edit: it looks terrible, compared to streams and videos), but it's definetely playable on "Low-End" Devices with integrated GPU.

If you use a Laptop though, be sure the cooling is good and/or set/cap the frequency to a defined amount. Otherwise you will have "stuttering", but actually that's just the CPU under/overclocking all the time due to the heat.

AMD X2 260

4GB RAM

SAPPHIRE HD5670 with 512 MB

-> playable on low/med settings. Wasn't really playing with settings too much, but game is more than playable at this moment. So if anyone with similar system asks himself if he/she should get the game - go for it.

I will be getting a XFX - ATI Radeon HD 6770 1GB DDR5 card in the next few weeks.
Max resolution and high settings don't matter that much as good FR.

Thanks.

Yeah, I have a 650m in my Dell Inspiron 17r and I run most games at 1080p on high/very high settings with 30+ fps... Dayz standalone just isn't optimized, but I hope that'll change over the development period.  Playing on graphic options disabled or low/very low shouldn't run at 14-26 FPS.

Okay cool ! Thanks a lot ..

My CPU is : Intel® Core i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz  2.40GHz

I know my graphic card isn't for games, I dont really play games but I'm programming (computer sciences studies) but i really want to play this game

It will run pretty well. probably medium settings at 30+ fps.

and it will get better when they optimize the client.

I'm currently running a two-month-old Radeon HD7850 2GB with a generic Intel 2.4GHz Quad Core CPU. It runs the game fairly well on medium/high, but I lag like mad in cities. Large towns just drop my FPS slightly.

I'm upgrading to a new rig, however; new system board, and a hex-core CPU (AMD FX-6300). So hopefully that'll give a nice little boost!

Hi everyone,

I'd really like to buy DayZ but I don't have any knowledge in graphic cards... so I was wondering if my Geforce GT650M 2GB is enough to play without ugly graphics ?

I'm ok with all the other system requirements (i've an i7, 8GB RAM).

I really hope it could be ok with my graphic card too...
