Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted December 17, 2013 zing ! This is true but I believe it is a huge wip still so shit is gonna change all over the shop constantly, some of the changes are going to fuck shit up and take a big fat dump all over us but I will defend keeping dayz hardcore as long as i can, the mod was so pussified ( custom changes mainly not the mod teams fault) in the end it was a joke and i hope this doesn't end up the same way. Seeing a large amount of people complaining about the lack of loot is fucking beautiful. Worded like a king.
ken@thekab.com 37 Posted December 17, 2013 Exactly which point did you respond to? I said having loot spawn on a server restart leads to certain obvious and predictable behaviors. You didn't address any of that. Who said anything about running. Reading comprehension please, for serious.
grifims 1 Posted December 17, 2013 I can't travel far and wide. I feel tired. I want to take a nap. I feel thirsty. My mouth is dry. A fucking men. It's like I'm listening to a whiney child complain. It doesn't help our brave heros can only survive within food or drink for like an hour.
Shock4ndAwe 13 Posted December 17, 2013 I don't see anybody complaining that the game is too hard. I see people saying that the loot system is patently unfair as it stands. No one is expecting to find M4A1s as soon as they spawn. What I do expect, however, is to be able to go into a town that I find and scrounge up some things that will help me get higher up in the world. Obviously the bigger the town, the more loot. The system as it is currently is unfair to those who weren't on right after the server restarted. That's not a complaint, that's a statement of fact.

The system as it is currently is unfair to those who weren't on right after the server restarted. That's not a complaint, that's a statement of fact. It's easy to get loot people! I've played on servers where the coast is picked clean. You're not always going to come out with a gun, but you can come out with loot. There's no more 5 minutes Elektro and Cherno runs. Check every building and I can assure you that you will find things. Exactly which point did you respond to? I said having loot spawn on a server restart leads to certain obvious and predictable behaviors. You didn't address any of that. Who said anything about running. Reading comprehension please, for serious.I responded saying how there will always be predicable behaviors, and you have to fight them. There's no way to stop the post reset bombardment, but what I'm saying is, it's equivalent to what it would really be, except real life has no restarts. Who said anything about running. Reading comprehension please, for serious. Ironically I just passed out traveling between two towns. Drank up at the well, started a light jog... unconscious from thirst within 10 minutes before even making it to the very next down (which doesn't have a well, unless they changed the map). I haven't actually found a drink yet, of any kind, or a canteenHmmm.....
Hetstaine 10852 Posted December 17, 2013 I imagine there is a shitload of issues with loot atm amongst other things , but i certainly won't be fussed if i don't find sfa in Cherno or any of the coastal towns after a lot of people have been through. I expect that and hope for it.

They think there should always be plenty of loot for them to scrounge up before they beeline it for NWAF, when the fact of the matter is, DayZ is a survival simulator, meaning the goal is to survive. It's not a jack up on loot and head north simulator. I'm going to break this down for everyone who is bringing up the "farm the resets argument" Let's say a zombie outbreak happens right now. People are going to go fucking crazy, tearing apart stores, warehouses, and even homes. Chances are, there is going to be little to no loot for you by the time you get your chance. That's what the SA has represented. You're not always going to be first, and it bewilders me why people actually think gear should just pop in when they get close, because they want everything to be layed out for them.
m.w. vindicator 880 Posted December 17, 2013 I have gotten good loot and THOROUGHLY looting four and a half towns. Check sheds and other spots that people often forget and you will not be disappointed.
Jasonperson 78 Posted December 17, 2013 I like this system. It feels like a genuine apocalypse.
tom59593 2 Posted December 17, 2013 Naive at best, you haven't thought this through. The ignorant will search buildings nearby, find nothing and quit. The rest of us will look for a server that restarted recently, or we'll wait until a server we know the schedule of restarts. Your hopeful scavenging decision will never enter into it for the vast, vast majority of players. That may be correct--and if it is I'm not terribly concerned for my own experience because things are currently working like I'd want them to. It was my own opinion but I respect that others might want the game to be different. I see issues with the current system, sure, but I don't think it's near the magnitude some are making it out to be. Case in point, I just entered a server 45 minutes BEFORE restart as a fresh spawn near Cherno. I was able to find 4 food, 2 drink, a backpack, and a first aid kit before the server restarted. Unfortunately I can't use one of my food because I still need to find a can opener, but if I can find that stuff several hours after restart in one of the most frequented places on the coast I think others can as well. I've had no trouble finding a couple of food and drink in Kamenka or Komarovo, both at various times after server restart. This is all anecdotal, though....perhaps you guys are experiencing things differently.
ken@thekab.com 37 Posted December 17, 2013 Hmmm..... Hmmm what? Did I mention running? Unless you consider a light jog running. In which case people should be dropping unconscious left and right every morning.
xX_fr0st-w0lf_Xx (DayZ) 343 Posted December 17, 2013 Me and this other guy had to head to berizino to get some loot, once we were out of the spawn area loot was everywhere, really enjoy this system, while it can be easily abused, its fun to spot things others missed, and head further inland for more loot.
tom59593 2 Posted December 17, 2013 People say to go search far beyond the coast and first cities. Well, you die before you get there because of you constantly needing to eat/drink. While I agree that the eat/drink balance is VERY off right now, I can tell you from experience that I can run from coast to about 3k inland without fainting. If you get a Kamenka spawn, that gives you plenty of time to raid Kamenka and Pavlovo and almost enough time to get to Zelenogorsk.

Nienko 41 Posted December 17, 2013 Not everyone can play 2 hours just to find watter bottle and an orange. Or 16 hours to find a rifle. Some people have jobs and like me can only play for an hour or two a day. It will suck if I have to spend the whole week to get some gear and then someone just kills me for the hatchet or a pistol.. TheLastEmp 295 Posted December 17, 2013 *AHEM*The incessant dry mouth and chronic fatigue will wear off as they are able to increase the number of zombies that spawn throughout to the extent that they become the primary threat. Until then, hunger and thirst are clearly intended to be the primary threat, which both deters banditry (as even food items will get ruined from gunshots) and forces us to continually move around and explore more of the map instead of squatting. Also, some buildings have clearly not had loot spawn put in them yet, so it's hit or miss at the moment with checking the right ones, As the number of items increase and all the buildings get loot spawn locations put in them, this problem will go away. Have we forgotten it's Alpha already?

I was geared to the teeth after 30 minutes, playing on a server that had been running for a few hours... I spawned near Balota airfield and was instantly armed with an m4 and 60 rounds. Its just luck man, you'll have it better next time around.

ken@thekab.com 37 Posted December 17, 2013 runrən/verbverb: run;1.move at a speed faster than a walk, never having both or all the feet on the ground at the same time. Is it really necessary to be a smartass and try to make nonconstructive comments? You should probably read the definition you just posted. My character was not running. So what are you getting at? That it's not ironic that my character dropped unconscious after 5 minutes of jogging? Or what? You're just posting nothing but smartass remarks yourself bud. I've argued this system is going to result in very specific (and likely undesired) behavior, not scavenging.
032125 (DayZ) 91 Posted December 17, 2013 I'm getting the distinct impression that a lot of people have formed really lazy search habits and are just experiencing ego bias. The starving/dehydration settings sound like they need a legitimate adjustment, but there are and have been too many coastys in Dayz for a long time.
Nienko 41 Posted December 17, 2013 (edited) in 2 hours I found everything you can ever want except a can opener and ammoWell, you just said that you found nothing :D The only way to get stuff is to kos. But you cant do it with no ammo..I know it will change as development goes, but I just dont want this game to be 100% hardcore.
